What's the deal? is $129 already discounted or what? And will this discount continue to apply after the offer ends? Can I upgrade to this plan?

It's normally $139, so $129 is the discounted price. It applies for the lifetime of the contract/ as long as you want to stay on it.
Yes, you can upgrade to it, but if you want to retain national calling and smartphone features, you can also do that for $134.
Best to drop the team a line on 0800 JOIN US and they can flick you over to whichever one suits better.

If $129 is already 25% discounted, shouldn't the original price be more than $139?

I suspect it means 25% off the cost of t he difference between 30/10 and 100/50. The 30/10 is $99, right? If normal for 100/50 is $139, the difference is $40, 25% off that makes the difference $10, reducing from $139 to $129.

Is that right? oO

I'd be interested in clarification from Orcon, actually. The way the promo is written on their site (and in your image above) suggests that either the normal price is $159 (saving $30/month, down to $129), or $172 (saving 25%, down to $129). I wouldn't, for example, expect Countdown to advertise that Watties Baked Beans are 25% off the, but only off the difference between the Watties price and the Oak price.

Still good value, but very unclear imo in the way the deal is presented, and if it is only $10 off, misleading.

I think you're right. The speed upgrade is normally $40, but it's 25% off (resulting in $30). It's a "clever" way of making the discount look big.

This was completely misleading. I was on a 60GB 100mb account and saw this advertised, so I called up to change. I was told if I wanted to change my contract I would have to resign my 12 month contract, but If I did I could change to the new 80GB plan with the 25% discount. I begrudging went along with this, thinking I would get more data for a cheaper price. I got my bill this month and its was $11 more than last month. I am now getting charged $125 a month for my plan ($124 before) and $10 a month for national calling, which use to be included for free. When I asked about this, I was told I was not eligible for the discount because I had to change from a 30mb plan to a 100mb plan! Which is just crazy!
