This is what I have been used to:

And this is what I am seeing now.

To me it seems like they have reduced the available speed on VDSL. I have seen speeds of well over 40 Mbit/s before, and now can't get over 35 Mbit/s

Or is it just a matter of more noise and less quality on the line than what I have been used to?

no your line speed has nothing to do with your ISP, its down to DLM (dynamic line management) which is managed by chorus, but its an automatic process.

its likely more noise on your line thats the cause

Refer to your latency and attenuation. Your DLM profile has changed.

You have been around long enough to know?

Firmware update would have done that.

First one is probably a Fritzbox 7340, stats from 2013. The second one is a 7390. So yes, different modems.

But change in speed has happened fairly recently.

More VDSL users using more data with increased crosstalk = new DLM profile.

I'd estimate at least 50 or so threads on here from the past year or so with people with the very same issue. Basically as more people take up VDSL2 crosstalk becomes an issue and can reduce sync speeds.

Considering your attenuation has doubled, i would question that as a possible fault.

AFAIK, no fritz firmware have broke the line atteuation reading.
