Yay. Until this week it's always been 3G.

Didn't know if 2Degrees still expanding coverage, but looks like they are.

Great! We hope you're enjoying the 4G goodness! :)

Across the months of October and November we are deploying 4G to 68 sites across the country, creating 4G areas not previously covered. They include -

  • Papamoa
  • Rolleston
  • Paraparaumu
  • Huntly
  • Cambridge
  • Oamaru
  • Ohope
  • Whakatane
  • Masterton
  • Motueka
Christchurch North, South, East and West are also receiving additional 4G sites.

Over the coming weeks we will be testing and optimising the network so there maybe occasional drops in service in some areas. We thank you for your patience while we carry out this work.

Our coverage page - 2degrees Coverage will show the extended 4G coverage within 7 days of the site's official launch.

Cheers

I too had noticed that occasionally it was popping up then dropping in Rolleston last couple of weeks. Nice to see it confirmed as coming as basic mobile 2g coverage is horrid. Most annoying however is our entire staff get no town 4g coverage in Sydenham. Hopefully the list includes some  sites in that area as so annoying to have 4g phones with 2degress and no 4g coverage in town.

2degreesCare:

  • Huntly

This reminded me of the last time i was a passenger heading down SH1 before huntly/taupiri. 2Degrees coverage was built before this new expressway went in, so i found i lost signal a few times driving down this section in red

It could have been to do with roaming, in that it's swapping from 2degrees to vodafone and back to 2degrees as this is fringe coverage, and therefore dropping.

Will any near future upgrades affect coverage in this area?

any update on 4g coverage being finished in auckland?  i see like five areas not covered, of course i'm in one of those areas.

that said most of Christchurch didn't seem to have 4g at all.  And even areas in Auckland that look covered often don't seem to have coverage.
