So I recently made the change from Spark to 2Degrees as it provided more flexibility for what I wanted to do.

I got my number all changed over on Wednesday of this week, which to my dismay the iMessage that was already linked to my number no longer works, this severely impacts the way I can be contact by multiple people.

I was wonder if anyone has had the same experience and what have they done to fix the issue at hand. Seeing as I am unable to use this type of messaging at this point and time.

Any help is much appreciated :)

Thanks,

Quite a few threads on this topic already but you need to wait for the SMS routing tables to be updated on the A party side sending out the activation SMS from Apple

This is not a 2Degrees issue

Awesome, thank you. How long should I be waiting? As it has been 4 days now?

I have seen it take a week or 2 but keep iMessage / FaceTime off in the mean time and try every 24 - 48 hours to activate

Hi @jskiltz,

Please also check Settings > Phone > My Number and ensure this is updated. Often this will instead be your temporary 022 number, which the iPhone won't update when you bring your number across.

Let us know how it goes :) ^BRM

So this a problem due to something Apple is slow to do? What a pain if you're swapping SIMs for a local one when you go overseas.

3rd party SMS vendor Apple use not directly related to Apple as such

Presumably they select this vendor though?

Anyway, I'm so glad I left the Apple idiosyncrasies behind me.

I've been having issues with iMessage/Facetime since Monday - it was deactivated on Sunday night when I needed to activate a SIM, so I put it into my iPhone and then put my SIM back into my phone. Since then, any attempt to activate iMessage/Facetime have only been partly successful.

When I try to activate either/or I immediately get the "An error occurred during activation. Try again." message - however unlike other other times when this message appears on activation, it actually proceeds to activate iMessage/Facetime on my email addresses. My phone number never shows up on the list with the loading wheel to show it's tried to activate that.

I've tried everything:
- turn both off, restart, re-enable
- reset network settings
- turning on flight mode, turning them on when connected to WiFi and then disabling flight mode
- done a complete factory reset and without restoring a backup
- done a complete factory reset and restored a backup
- putting my SIM into another phone

It just won't activate on my number at all, but activates on the email addresses, and I cannot figure out why.

I've logged in online and I can see my phone is sending the international SMS that is used for activating iMessage/Facetime on the phone number.

I'm just at a loss on how to fix it.

Hi @Riggleby,

Sorry about that! It looks like this was a technical issue on our end, which has been resolved as of 4pm. Can you try again and see if it works this time around. If not, please PM us with you mobile number and 4-digit PIN so we can pass it on to our technical team.

Kind Regards,

^BRM
