I just saw this on the 2degrees website last night so went in today to get it applied to my plan (as my sister is in the defence force) however couldn't get it for myself.

See here: https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/pay-monthly/kiwi-hero-plan/

With my sister being in the defence force it grants me a "Forces 4 Families" card. This isn't a card with any ID on it, it is just a discount card where I can get the same discounts as her at a number of places. See here for more details: http://nzdf.mil.nz/families/discounts/default.htm

Now, on the 2degrees site it lists this as an acceptable form of ID but got told it was not when I went into the store. The guy was nice, he checked with dealer support who stated the same but I can't help thinking that somewhere along the line there is some confusion with this card and what it is. I have a feeling I am right here and the plan applies to me being a cardholder.

I think as a whole this is an excellent initiative from 2degrees but will be keen for them to either correct this on the site (if this isn't the case) or make it aware to everyone it actually includes immediate family cardholders also as this is literally what the forces 4 family card is for.

Pinging: @2degreescare

Aren't IT workers heros too?

In all seriousness, that's a cool initiative

Weird the store said no; also dealercare.

But you can get it with that card; I know of someone that has.

Went in today to upgrade my plan to take advantage of this offer. The fella at the store didn't have a clue what it was or how to apply it. After a (not overly short) call he figured it out and set it up. Not sure if the communication to front line staff has been completed or if it was sufficient (the other staff member didn't have a clue either). The ID thing wasn't an issue as it was a mainstream one.

The site is pretty clear so it should work.

But I'm guessing nothing has changed since I worked in Care about a year ago (including dealer support) where we often got comms about changes on the day it was released or even later.
Probably a case of not being given enough information or enough time to read that info before getting calls about it. Many times we found out new things we were offering because of a press release or an update to the site.

This is what I am thinking. The guy didn't really know anything about it - he ended up having to check his emails about it and also phone dealer support but it does seem pretty clear on the website. He showed me the information and it all appears rather confusing currently.

Went into the Johnsonville store today and got it applied without any issues!

Clearly more comms needs to be put out but thanks 2degrees!

They kept a lid on it. Even I only heard of it when the internal comms people sent out the all-staff email, so it's probably not entirely surprising there's a little bit of confusion out in the stores.

Can anyone who might have the $60 plan set up as a pool plan tell me what the monthly cost is?

I’m not a 2degrees customer but qualify for the plans, and the website says to go into a store to find out the cost of the pool plans.

"Registered Teachers"...so does this mean that Teachers' Assistants, other school employees, Teacher Aides, etc are ineligible? They are just as much a part of the education system as anyone else and are (in my opinion) also heroes.

Heres a question for the 2 degree guys on the forum.

I know its probably better if I go in store.

Currently a Spark customer. Have pre-ordered the Huawei P30 Pro already.

Im definitely entitled to go on the Hero Plan (Practising RN)

Could I go on the $34 a month Hero Plan AND pre-order the Huawei P30 and I would keep my current number.

Just looking at the possibilities.

I suspect there is a "minimum" requirement to qualify for it??

Yes - however you'll need to cancel your Spark preorder and port your number over to 2degrees.

Yes all sorted.

Went in store today 2 Degrees at the Base here in Hamilton. Yes I can.

Have gone to Spark and cancelled the pre-order and paid off the difference.

Going to 2 degree store tomorrow and signing up. Significant saving.
