I have a dual sim phone that I bought a few years ago from a local retailer that sells a lot of imported models. Used it as is for the last few years, but recently flashed the NZC (2degrees) firmware onto it to see if I could get wifi calling to work - the NZ version of my phone is supported officially, so I figured that was a good start.

Have lost the ability to use the second SIM slot of course, but was pleasantly surprised when I was able to enable wifi calling and it seems to work pretty well. Not being able to "roam" off wifi onto the mobile network during a call (e.g. if you're leaving the house) is a shortcoming though.

Has anyone else tried this? I know the 2degrees website says overseas phones aren't compatible, but it seems this is maybe more a throwaway line of not wanting to support endless combinations of device configurations, rather than a technical limitation.

Yes, although we wouldn't officially actively support a phone reflashed in this manner, there is no real reason why it wouldn't work as long as the hardware is compatible and 2degrees firmware is installed.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

Cheers, that's good to know. No stability/performance issues that I've noticed since having the NZC firmware loaded (at least no more frequent and no new types of problems than I was having prior to flashing new firmware, given it's a 3+ year old phone).

I am suing a Huawei Mate 20 Pro that I bought in Australia and it works great over where on WiFi Calling... Now if only 2degrees would support it and my iPhone 8 Plus for VoLTE like the other 2 carriers do and I would be a much happier man 😁

Well, my use of wifi calling seems to be short-lived. Got an OTA update today to A720FXXS9CTE2 and while I still have the toggle to turn wifi calling on and off, despite a couple of toggles and restarts it just doesn't seem to bring up the wifi calling symbol in the status bar.

Should have replied the other day, but it turned out all that was needed was a power cycle of the phone. Restarting it hadn't gotten wifi calling to work again, but a complete power off and on did.
So... Still working with a parallel imported phone.

Do you know if the Galaxy S20 series will get wifi calling? Didn't show up in the supported devices list when I searched today, and being a dual SIM phone (plus e-SIM) that isn't parallel imported it looks like quite a good option!

Is there a way to get it working on not supported phones?

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 8A, have enabled the VoWifi feature but it does not work with the 2degrees SIM :(
