I called up 2degrees to report that some Chorus fiber cable on a power pole near but not on my property has come loose and is swinging around in the wind. It looks to me like a bit more wind and it could come down causing problems such as disconnection. 2degrees said they can raise the fault with Chorus but I had to accept that if there was no problem found I would be charged. I said no I don't accept that and after saying goodbye hung up.

How do I raise a fault with shared infrastructure without getting charged for it?

Thanks for that. I thought you couldn't communicate directly with Chorus, you had to go through your ISP.

For anything specific to do with your connection but Chorus network related - their form allows you to report any damage etc.

Of course the Chorus damage report form using my email address as the from address, so Gmail marked it as a phishing scam and I had to rescue it from spam. Having it sent from a Chorus email address would make more sense.

I use "Snap Send Solve" on my mobile for infrastructure issues I come across.

Wellington City Council has its own FixIt app. Don't think it covers utilities.

@xpd it looks like the app will send a report to them even if they are not partnered - just means the report is more basic and limited to a single photo. https://www.snapsendsolve.com/about/

Why do some authorities have a Blue Tick next to their name in the app?

The Blue Tick is used to identify Supporting Authorities within the Snap Send Solve platform. If an authority does not have a blue tick next to their name they will still receive your report
