My wife's phone just received a SMS warning that her minutes (monthly plan) were getting low and soon her calls would be charged at standard rates. She had 5 minutes left.

But checking online and also with the text service showed while there were 5 minutes left of standard time, she still had 100 minutes of bonus minutes left expiring on 4 January 2011. So would have expected that when she had used her last 5 minutes of standard minutes (which expire 4 Dec 2011) then calls will be taken from the bonus minutes.

Or do I have this wrong and after the 5 minutes are used, she will be charged standard calling rates of 44c/minute?

Good luck figuring that out, between all the options and bonuses etc with 2 degrees its hard to know what you are going to pay for things. very davinci code like IMO.

Well I tried to call them but their promotional campaigns must be really working well since for the first time I was put onto hold and after 15 minutes gave up waiting. There was an option for a callback but it didn't say when I could have been asleep then!

Hi, yes, we know about this. Marketing are looking at it and trying to decide what to do. The issue of course is that no matter which way you do it, *some* people are going to be happy and *some* people are going to be confused or annoyed. :-(

Well, without actually checking her balance, sounds like 105.

I finally got hold of customer support. They said the text was sent to all on account users, whether or not they had had their bonus minutes allocated yet or not. They were apologetic about it and confirmed that she has 105 minutes to go.
