Moving to Slingshot from Vodafone I was happy ? no more data caps! Not only would this, I?d had dealt with Slingshot in the past, and had been consistently impressed with their plans and quality of service. I was looking forward to using them again. The transition was smooth, and the customer service team were friendly, and were able to get me connected even though I have a Vodafone branded modem. I was happy with my choice to move from Vodafone to Slingshot.

To me, Slingshot was an honest company who did business with integrity and care. They wanted to provide a great product with even better service.

Little did I know that these impressions were illusions, and the time for them to be shattered was fast approaching.

Have any of you had similarly awful experiences?

I can't comment about Slingshot but I can say that with Telecom and their refusal to fix the connection (not working from where I live) I eventually gave up and moved to TelstraClear. I'm a simple man who hardly uses any of their services if I can avoid it - and all I expected was Telecom to fix their service so that I could actually visit websites.

The problem I have is that there is a huge gap between those on the front line and those who work behind the scenes where there is a complete lack of communication between the two of them - ring up and state there is a problem with the connection and the customer staff will look at you as if you're the problem. Bah, like death and taxes, ISP help desks are always going to be horrible with a selection criteria about as rigorous as getting out a wedgy board to channel the dead.

I do understand this, and I wouldn't mind if it happened say, 1 out of 5 times. But my account move was riddled with this. One time I rang up and was asked whether I had just signed up that day... My account was at least 2 months old at this point.

Even then I would have done nothing - it wasn't until I was belittled and disconnected by a Team Leader that I decided to shout my dissatisfaction to the world.

Was that url (www.slingshot.org.nz) wrong or did Slingshot cease that domain after you bought it??

Laughing

It was a serious question tho, I'm keen to read about the issues!  If you haven't tried slingshot.org.nz lately, it now redirects to slingshot.co.nz...

PS: I meant 'seize' rather than 'cease' btw :)

I smell a rat, probably just sent the OP a nasty sounding letter threatening to sue. As far as I'm aware there isn't a whole lot you can do against cyber squatters, OP should have held his ground just long enough to get a decent settlement.

Of course their call center could have used a login from a competitor to the registrars account and hijacked the domain.... oh wait, something similar to that did happen.

Did he sell it or did they just take it. He could have used it from Slingshot organisation for people who hunt with Slingshots.
The OP site is still available at http://my-slingshot-experience.info/ for anyone interested.

In fact, I believe I got the worse service possible.

Read this. http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=77222

- 1 full year of constant disconnections
- 1 full year of dial up speeds
- 1 full year of ringing and complaints average 3 a week for a year
- 6 technicians sent out in less then one month to fix my jack point

so why did I join? I didn't. I rang to inquire about their plans and pricing, the girl told me, all good so far. I moan about telecom and that I want to leave them as I was on their go large plan. Next thing I hear is her reading of terms and conditions. I tell her, no no, Im just inquiring, I understand what your saying thanks, but I want my speed tested first before I join you. 3 days later, Im with slingshot. And no I didn't join. She just added me. That's exactly how the conversation went. I had rung 3 other internet providers, they were the 4th. My contract with telelcom had expired.

When I ring to say, hey, you guys joined me when I said no, they turned around and said, they would charge me a disconnection fee. I couldn't believe it. It all went downhill from their.
