Orcon New (Cardboard) Phoneline & Broadband Offer

Has anyone taken advantage of this new offer from orcon?

Their new offer arrived in my letterbox on a clever piece of cardboard a few days ago.

It looked like a good offer, so I was tempted to join.

However it pays to check with geekzone first.

So, after reading some geekzone posts, I now have second thoughts.

I can just see orcon ramping up there customer base without being able to handle the traffic, where did I hear that before??

I wrote to orcon expressing my surprise that they do not appear to care enough about the problems being discussed to offer comment or help. I wonder if I get a reply.

This would be the "Best deal ever"deal? which means you are in the Orcon+ area?

Of course their ultimate aim is market share and to steal you away from another ISP, but having just joined up to Orcon myself recently I would say if it suits what you want then do it! So far at least Ive had awesome customer service from Orcon and not regretting leaving my previous ISP at all!!!

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

I have no problems with Orcon - switched to their LLU network from Telecom Wholesale (Xnet) and peak speeds have improved hugely.

Hi Bee, I am not on Orcon+. Orcon seems to be targeting my area, rural south auckland with their "bestdeal" offer.

I have been on Jetstream for a few years without too much problem.

The consumer mag rated orcon highly and the price for the new offer is much better at $81 vs $110, so I am tempted.

But I don't want to have a months worth of headaches to get it up an running.

I signed up. Moved from Telecom and so far couldn't be happier - less money per month, higher broadband allowance, sync at about 14.5Mb to Auckland (vs 9.5Mb on Telecom), everything is much snappier, YouTube loads fast, no peak time/international issues.

There are already a couple of threads in the Orcon area discussing this deal, have a look at them as well.
