Evening,

We are currently doing some unplanned work on an underlying system behind the usage meter, because of this work we have take it off line until the work has been completed.
There is no change to the actual usage meter though.

We understand people rely on this tool and as such we are working very hard to have it back online as soon as possible.

I will post an update when i have one. I will also check to make sure the Network Status page has a relevant message on it.

Apologies for the interruption to this service.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul,
Will the data used when the usage meter is down be counted ?
And also my usage meter has been stuck since like a few days ago (2nd time this month)

I hope there wouldnt be a surge of data added to my account when you guys have finally fixed the meter.

Cheers,
MK

I have been collecting the total number of bytes going through my router stats page over a 4 day period  before my usage meter stopped working and there is an approximately 2 GB difference in favour of Orcon.... could you explain how this can occur.

Ya explain that plz . Wow 2 gb .

Was your My Account section showing 2gb more than what your router says (upload + download) ?

As my router indicates that it's " total bytes " going through it, I can only assume that it is upload and download... the Orcon data was from My Account usage page.

Chill out, its just a usage meter, and you have been advised that it is unavailable. It must be quite hard for them to provide this information while they are giving you all sorts of exceptions to chargable traffic via the ozone etc.

Better they take it down and advise you rather than just provide blatently incorrect data to you like... oh most other ISPs have at sometime or another. Traffic that catches up will be stuff that you have used anyway, so stop thinking you will be able to sneak a couple of bd-rips past them while the meter isnt available :D

Hi guys,

The usage meter is back online, it is behind at the moment as we process the backlog over the period of the outage.

I cant rule out having to take it offline again at some point but we will do our best to make sure people are notified.

I don't really have enough detail to answer questions about specific peoples usage rating sorry and all such inquiries really should go through the help desk so we and you have a record of the query.

We do understand people rely on things like usage meters, that's why we felt it important to notify people of the outage when we knew it was required.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Regards

Paul

It's off for me too, darn annoying when it's coming to the end of your billing cycle and you have to figure out how much you can pull down from steam before it starts to cost you...

Thats odd i watched the chap enable and test it.
Can you please note down what you are doing that results in not seeing the meter?

I tested the Android app and logging into my account and can see usage, but as you might expect i am not a normal user account so doesn't really prove much:)

Hi Richard
If you could explain to me what a bd-rip is I just might start thinking about it. All I was asking from the forum was a possible explanation why there was a difference in the data going through my router and what was on Orcons usage meter, nothing more, nothing less.

When you go to your homepage , it usually shows an overview of your usage without logging in.
Mine still says unavailable thus far.

OK, it seems that the main site usage app was missed.
Its on now, please check and let us know if you still have problems seeing it.

PS. we are still processing backlog.

Bluray disc - something quite large that will exceed most low NZ broadband caps so best left to those ISPs that offer you an affordable offpeak option ;)

Can be many reasons for a different reading, most common is that there is no agreed measurement of what you are measuring.
