noticed last while watching tv1 that they have changed their channel bug.

it's now a very obvious 'one', plastered on the lower right of the screen.

not only is it much less transparent but it no longer carries any hd identifier, nor do their ad bumpers - unlike tv2.

a clear case of fixing something that wasn't broke in the first place.

idiots.

Why do these creeps even need a logo on the screen at all ? It's nasty, intrusive and totally unnecessary. It shows what idiots *WE* are for letting them get away with it.

The only thing I watch on TV now is the news - anything else is downloaded. They have logo's too of course and some are even worse. But many don't, or like itv, bbc are barely noticeable.

I have never seen the point of the logos myself.

It's not as if the saturation bombing of promos every seven minutes would ever let you forget which channel you are watching.

I can picture the Board meeting now. Oh dear. Tivo - badly executed and we lost $10 million+. Igloo partnership, badly executed and we flushed a few million more. We have rates that are stagnant, no real content, and due to our own incompetence we have a business model that we are congenitally unable to develop. What we need to fix all this is a new logo that's even more intrusive and irritating than the old one.

Idiots!

This looks ugly. Too big. The logo itself isn't bad but the DOG is awful. Also, during breakfast the logo magically moves up to the top right of the screen.

I think the only positive from this is that the ONE plus 1 logo does not look tacky. It looks like they were designed together now.

Sometimes the logo is overpowering. Its not in the ads though.  The answer is simple, if you dont like it, dont watch TV1. Problem solved

The only time that you can't already determine the channel based on the content, they get rid of the logo. I've found that stupid since the analogue days!

Yeah, it's a little larger and a little less transparent. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal though tbh.

Marketing, brand awareness/assocation. *shrug*

Breakfast logo is top right because it would clash with the baseline graphics if it was bottom right. They can't be bothered reformatting baseline graphics to accommodate the bug, I suppose.

Not sure what you mean by DOG? Is it that bad?

Do you remember TV before this - wasn't that long ago. Tv3 were the first, by quite some time.

Or Tv2, or TV3, or anything else. So why buy a TV apart from using it as a monitor ?

If they MUST have one, there should be some legal restriction on the size, transparency etc. and most certainly no animation.

Yeah, I do remember such a time. I'm still not really fussed about it though. I mean, it would be nice if it were a little smaller and a little clearer, but it's not keeping me up at night.

I reckon if anybody is having a really hard time with the bug, maybe they could let TVNZ know and see how they respond?

Really? You think parliament should waste time legislating for how broadcasters market themselves in the corner of the screen? Boy, that sure is nanny state.

LetTVNZknow? I'm sure they do - they put it there!

>You think parliament should waste time legislating for how broadcasters market themselves in the corner of the screen? Boy, that sure is nanny state.

Not sure what you mean - improving something to make it better is somehow bad ?
Of course it isn't how broadcasters market themselves - its about one's right to enjoy and use something they own without unnecessary intrusion and annoyance. A futile hope of course, but I'm still gonna say it !

Obviously the intention is that you let them know that you are annoyed by the bug - not to let them know it's there. BUt I guess you can just whine on the internet instead of being proactive, right?

It's quite a subjective thing, these bugs. It's only your opinion that it would be an improvement to remove the bug. Let's not go treating your subjective opinion as fact.

I'm afraid you don't have the right to direct TVNZ to do as you please.

Isn't it a merge between he old logo from the 70's, and the previous logo? Looks very similar, especially when it initially has the outlines and fills in. I think all the new graphics look really dated. Wonder if it was done inhouse.
