Maybe instead of waiting for something that may not ever happen people should move on! :-)

how can you say "why keep waiting" and "move on" while at the same time actively following and posting about the MCE product? Sounds to me like you're waiting and hoping like the rest of us....

The main things for me are stability, interface and the ecosystem. For example nobody releases a Media Portal remote, they release a Media Center remote. There is a huge number of third party products that are designed specifically to work with Media Center.

I don't think MS is just going to abandon Media Center as some of the commentary would seem to suggest.

The thing is, MS is a large company with the ability to demonstrate support for the products that it creates, whereas projects like MediaPortal, although somewhat functional, do not have the OEM/third party manufacturer support and they never will.

So has the final actually been released to OEMs yet?
I have logged into my MS OEM account and had a look around in the software updates section but can't see it anywhere??

No it's not available to normal OEM's yet, just the big box/dedicated HTPC guys, but I'm assured that it is coming.

We'll have to wait until September I think.

all ok on that. Not tested any of it, but version numbers are the right ones and it can be installed without rebuild.

Its real...

It doesn't uninstall though - so make sure, cause theres no going back without a rebuild.

Everything works well - would be perfect if it had h.264, but it hasn't so its not.

Perfect solution for Freeview DVB-S though. Still trying to get DVBSBridge working with it.

I think what Rusty is saying is that it is the perfect solution to get Freeview DVB-S and another tuner (such as analogue for Sky) working together.

And he is trying to get DVBSBridge working so he can use his smartcard reader to watch Sky without a Sky STB (legally I must stress).

At least this is how I read his post. He will be able to confirm though.

I'm using DVBBridge to watch Sky. And I got it working...

I'll now run dual tuner DVB-S (2 x HVR-3000's) in MCE, 1 for Freeview, 1 for Sky.

The DVB-T tuners are still available for DVBViewer to use in the background for hidef.

Working like a dream - I'm in low def heaven...
