Been off the forums for a while - so I've missed alot...

Fiji - what a great place to be... BETA get there now... Cool

If I'm sounding to cryptic wouldn't it be great if you could:

1.  Get rid of all the registry mods needed for Vista MCE in NZ.
2.  Tune Freeview DVB-S natively in MCE
3.  Tune Freeview DVB-T natively in MCE, including our dodgy AAC sound codecs
4.  Get the guide over the air, rather than having to use Bladerunner/Reven/ or others
5.  Have native muiti tuner support, which is easy to setup

That way you'd get all of the nice "features" of the other packages with the professional interface of Vista MCE.

Well I imagine if you were in "Fiji" right now, you'd be happy...  I know I am...

If you go to Fiji you still need to use NVidia to view your holiday snaps, it doesn't fix the ATI flu...  Don't get me wrong - It's still got some issues (BETA!!!) to sort out DVB-S is rock solid, DVB-T is not so solid, but I've only been in Fiji for a few hours...
BTW Teletext works too... Laughing

If you have no idea what I'm talking about just go back to sleep you won't miss anything...

Looks like they are not accepting applicants any more? Or have I missed something?

If you are using a New Zealand-based Live ID you need not to apply. It appears New Zealand is not in the list of countries supported during the beta - even though DVB-T H.264 is only available in New Zealand and Norway...

If you read the thread they stopped accepting applicants weeks ago.

Its currently a "closed" beta test.

You can get the file from other sources - its not that hard to find, however I'm not about to get into any discussions about the right/wrong of getting hold of it.  The Green Button forums already discuss that enough.

For us Kiwi's the next release is certainly going to plug the gaps.  If you do manage to find the file treat it like the early beta that it is and you won't be disappointed.

The DVB-S works a treat including the guide.  The DVB-T is flakey, but I suspect that it to do with the AMD/ATI 780G I've tried it on.  I'll move some stuff around later (back to NVidia) and do some more tests.

When i read "Fiji" and "Vista MCE", I instantly click and hoping to see "Fiji" come available soon! I hope it support multiple tuners of different type, like DVB-T + Analog-T etc and not the stupid "single type of reception"

The official word is "MCE is not supported in NZ, and it never was".

It may or may not change. Until then... GB-PVR or Media Portal.

Its supports both types at once - but its very flakey at the moment.  As i said earlier - I think this is the ATI issue, will report more later.  All unofficially of course :)

And true to what Mauricio said... MCE isn't really officially supported in my book. Until they got the EPG data freely accessible by MCE, it is a glorified PVR... real disappointing and sad to see MCE will never live up to its full potential in NZ.
