Hi, could someone please clarify if getting an HDMI cable for this box (to a 42" HDTV) would give significantly better quality picture than the standard AV R/W/Y cable that comes with the box
HDMI is digital and Component is Analogue
HDMI carries audio and video over a single cable. while component can do this the cable is usually more bulky

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question?
at the end of the day its up to the user what they find better, i cant tell you that.
significantly better, i doubt it, better maybe, but its in the eye of the beholder.
google the differences between the 2 and see if that helps make up your mind
Hi, I just bought this box and during initial setup it found all the channels and they worked fine for about 20 mins, then it said channel couldn't be found. I have tried several factory resets and scans since then and it either finds nothing, or, it only finds Prime. I can't seem to get it to find all the channels again. Anybody advise?
Thanks

This could be linked to your satellite dish, it either is not aligned properly or the LNB is failing, Press Info twice on Prime and tell me what the signal and quality bars are reading as, but with this it will most likely be your dish, which you can correct without the need of the Pro. In terms of your HDMI question, the cable will improve the quality of the picture by a fraction, the interface, OnDemand apps and any media that is casted from your device will be in HD, and fingers crossed TV One, TV2 and TV3 will become unencrypted to enjoy HD for Freeview customers - HDMI will be the best one to go for your TV and this unit, using the AV cable supplied would reduce the quality that would have been nativley set.
Hope this helps. let me know if you need any more info

Hi thanks for that. the quality is 96% on prime, as per my original note - when I first set up the box ALL channels were discovered successfully (1, 2, 3, prime etc - 20+ channels I think it was). They all got detected and they were all working perfectly. Then after about 20 mins they started saying signal can't be found. Now when I reset and rescan it finds nothing at all except prime. So I don't understand why it found them all originally and they were all strong quality etc, and now it can't find them at all no matter how many times I reset and scan?
Thanks

Yes, an HDMI cable would give a notable improvement in the quality if the picture. I would recommend using one. It won't give you full HD, but the up-scaling is pretty damn good.
Hi, I bought this unit a couple of weeks ago. I have had nothing but trouble with it.
Sometimes things I've tried to record on series link don't record. Some days they do, some days they don't.
When I'm watching something I've recorded, the remote stops responding. I cannot rewind/fastforward/stop/pause. If I push any of those buttons the screen goes blank. The program continues to play (I can hear sound) but it goes blank.
The only fix for this is if I turn the unit off and on again which is a pain because then I have to go back into program and fast forward back to where I was. This happens at least twice a night.
Also sometimes things that I've recorded come up with a different name. For instance it says I've recorded Home and Away when it's actually Neighbours (Not a real example).
These are just a few of the problems, there seems to be more random problems that have happened occasionally.
I assumed the unit was faulty with all these problems so took it back to the shop & swapped it out.
The new unit has exactly the same problems.
Are there any fixes for these problems?
Thanks.
(Tongue in cheek)................................
its the satellite signal or alignment..........

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just have to put up with it. (Totally un-tech savvy).

Whenever Freeview Plus loads we get this whit bar at the top of the screen with some numbers in it that won't go away. Does anyone know how to get rid of this, as well as the Freeview Plus button prompt?

Hi Declan, This should be removed now, are you still seeing this as if so I will need to call the team at Freeview HQ for details. FreeviewPlus has now being fully launched this morning so things should be back to normal with the banner now working as it should.
