I still have problems using FF + FR. The 4 min trick mostly works, in other words ignore what you see on the screen. 2x and 4x are all mostly useless, 8x, 16x and 32x are the only speeds that seem to do anything. I never had to press FF five times on my old PVR. It still gets stuck on 2x, 4x and sometimes 8x, a bit like trying drive a car from a standing start that has no first or second gears. It's maddening trying to precisely remove adverts without a frame step function and with separate Play/Pause buttons.

I've tested on the original 3.09 and now on 3.11 firmware, the FF/FR issue was on both. I've only a had a couple of random reboots, it's quite stable.

My wish list: 1. Allow copying recordings to a USB device (like the Hong Kong model), 2. Fix the FF/FW issue, 3. Enable frame stepping, 4. Allow custom times for skip buttons. 5. Make the Play button a Play/Pause toggle.

Just turned on the Magic tv and TV3 came up, changed the channel to C4 and bam went to channel 1 and same problem emerged, just TVNZ channels. No recording was happening, rescanned the channels, 17 came up but only TVNZ was showing, rescanned 3 times for all the channels to stick. Any ideas?

Cheers Pete

Hopefully the guys from MagicTV are still watching the forum.

Any plans to integrate Wi-Fi into the unit.  Just like Sony did with the PS3.

It would be way better for downloading than having to run a cable all the way from my router.

wiredr: hi guys a question for { trevor, shouston and katipo } are you running ver 3.11 or v 3.09 software .? all of the above problems can be linked to the 3.11 software . i had similar issues and changed back to 3.09 and so far rock solid performance . oh and fyi my signal is 100% q and 79% s.

I've run both versions. All these troubles are in both versions (and the one before it). They seem to be generic problems and "just the way it works". Nothing about FF or FR has ever turned up in the firmware release notes.

BTW: 3.11 fixed all the series scheduling problems I had, which was listed as one of the problems fixed in 3.11.

Version 3.11NZ
 Enable audio “Mute” function when Bitstream is ON and outputting Dolby Digital
audio.
 Improve audio level matching between Dolby Digital and AAC track.
Improve series recording handling.

Contact the NZ MagicTV distributor they are all still under guarantee.

My first remote only worked ramdomly and they replaced it fairly quickly after they recieved my bad one. They seem very responsive.

They are based in Raglan. http://magictv.co.nz/support.html

katipo: Have you tried turning off Instant Rewind in settings? It may help FF/FR somewhat.

But for some reason my MagicTV box does not recognise it as being a new version.

And I've got an internet connection as gadgets work.

@MagicTV: With the information here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=59796 in mind will you be updating your software to allow Network or USB transfer of recordings in the near future?
