Am I right in thinking that Timeshifting needs to be turned on for some of the FreeViewPlus functions to work?

Hi, I just bought this box and during initial setup it found all the channels and they worked fine for about 20 mins, then it said channel couldn't be found. I have tried several factory resets and scans since then and it either finds nothing, or, it only finds Prime. I can't seem to get it to find all the channels again. Anybody advise?
Thanks
This could be linked to your satellite dish, it either is not aligned properly or the LNB is failing, Press Info twice on Prime and tell me what the signal and quality bars are reading as, but with this it will most likely be your dish, which you can correct without the need of the Pro. In terms of your HDMI question, the cable will improve the quality of the picture by a fraction, the interface, OnDemand apps and any media that is casted from your device will be in HD, and fingers crossed TV One, TV2 and TV3 will become unencrypted to enjoy HD for Freeview customers - HDMI will be the best one to go for your TV and this unit, using the AV cable supplied would reduce the quality that would have been nativley set.
Hope this helps. let me know if you need any more info
Hi thanks for that. the quality is 96% on prime, as per my original note - when I first set up the box ALL channels were discovered successfully (1, 2, 3, prime etc - 20+ channels I think it was). They all got detected and they were all working perfectly. Then after about 20 mins they started saying signal can't be found. Now when I reset and rescan it finds nothing at all except prime. So I don't understand why it found them all originally and they were all strong quality etc, and now it can't find them at all no matter how many times I reset and scan?
Thanks
I have a similar issue. I still have not ruled out the LNB.
However, there are two other satellite receivers working just fine tuning wise off the same dish (even off the same cable, moved them around and they both work where I am trying to get the S8200 working from).
At one point, I did get all 32 channels tuned in, and it was fine until I changed to a channel not on the same MUX (so switched from TV One to TV3), then I got the message you are getting.
This is at my in-laws place (in Thames, I live on Waiheke). I have it at home on Waiheke now, and will test with a new cable to my dish (which was working fine with Sky up until 2 weeks ago - I have switched to DVB-T freeview now).
Has the S8200 got a fussier tuner?

not at all
freeview plus is an App that uses the internet to retrieve the program
time shifting just allows you to pause/rewind live TV

Hi Josh
could you please send me the updated manual for the S8200 - I presume this will contain all information about using the device with Freeviewplus
if you have the latest software you should have the latest manual on the box its self

Are you just saying that because you think that is the answer on how it works, or do you actually know for sure?! (Serious question because I think you are making statements that may not be correct given what I experienced last night)
The reason I ask, is because I was trying to use it last night to view a programme from several hours earlier (NewsHub from 6pm on TV3) and it kept dropping out of FreeViewPlus everytime as I was navigating the menus to try to get to the programme, AND both times I got to the programme I wanted it threw up a message about Timeshifting needing to be on... And to be clear, this was in FreeViewPlus not the EPG

The iManual will be the latest however I need to check if there will be a software update which will have the FreeviewPlus mentioned. The PDF Manual will be the best bet in the meantime.

@joshhill96 will be able to answer that for certain
but you shouldn't need time shifting to view freeview plus, as time shifting only relates to live TV

Good Afternoon,
I am having trouble trying to find out the issue, Just to confirm from my side to you. FreeviewPlus is a User Interface, an on screen service which brings you a TV Guide and catch up guide from the last 7 Days, You can book on FreeviewPlus when you select a show in the guide. Are you getting the Time shift message when you try and book a show in the FreeviewPlus enhanced guide? In terms of the Ondemand catch up apps, they have been there since almost launch of the S8200 last year. The unit follows this rule Record 2 channels from any 2 tuners while watching a show you have recorded or watching TVNZ On Demand, 3Now or MTVOD.
Could you reply via PM so we can take this correspondence privately and issue more personal details to determine the isolation of the issue.

@joshhill96 when is the issue with FFWD'ing and then playing losing sound going to be addressed? This happens when doing either a rewwind or fastFwd, pressing play to resume usually means no sound. This alone makes the device less than useful.

Hi Josh,
I did the firmware update last night, the issue with rewinding or fast forwarding and sound not coming back still exists. Can you PLEASE tell me this is at least logged as an issue with the developers?? It makes the box almost unusable if you can't rely it ffwd'ing and having sound...
Thanks,
Rick
