Looking at this change log: #5 I think it is not fixed.

Version 1.1A

1. System displayed the “Only two recordings allowed” popup message during channel switching while dual recordings were inprogress and Auto Timeshift recording is ON. Problem solved

2. Recording from AV output on live TV Enabled.

3. Updated the iManual

4. Random SATA HDD detection Failure during AC power reset. Problem solved

5. Random audio out of sync issue. Problem solved

6. Unable to login to the "TVNZ portal" during No signal condition with the default time as 1970. Problem solved

I would agree. We still have problems with the audio sync with the satbox at my house.

i don't understand how they think its solved half the time, it may work in their test setup, but their test setup seldom reflects reality.

@joshhill96 when they think they have rectified a fault how many differing setups is the updated firmware tested on?

If only there was a community of proactive users willing to contribute with improving this product, for free even, by applying test patches and confirming that they actually fixed anything prior to public release.

Imagine if such a userbase resource existed.

Seems we have been left high and dry with this troublesome Sat Top Box. I can feel a refund coming on. :) Will have to use the CGA for this. I like to see a Harvey Norman tech try and re write the software.

Couldn't be much worse by the sounds of it.

I was considering this box, now no way.

Is it normal to not be able to cancel a recording that has already started? I have started recording something but now want to cancel it, but it says: "This scheduled recording cannot be canceled at this time. Please try again later. (code 12)"

I need a new satellite box for an elderly relative, with an STB on its last legs that keeps failing. Will buy something for them this weekend.

I was considering the S8200. Based on this thread, I will now discard this option.

Interested in views on other options, given that it needs to be:

  1. as simple as possible for a non-techy elderly person to cope with
  2. reliable and easy to use
  3. preferable, but not essential, to have a recording option.

Emphasis on point (1), given that I will be the tech support and don't want to be called at work 2-3 times a day over silly things.

If the program has started, simply return to live TV and press Stop, a pop up will appear, simply discard the recording.
You will need to cancel a booked show in the EPG before the recording commences.

I got no response to my issue I posted here but I got a Starview unit for $30. No HDD or twin tuners but my in-laws never needed that anyway. However this $30 unit plugged in and went no issues (except the remote is a bit weak). Then I returned the $400 unit they had purchased and got a cash refund...everyone wins =)

Each to their own, Iv'e been looking through issue logs and only the select few people on here are the only ones having this issue. Please create a new thread if you wish to seek alternative Freeview devices.

Starview, around $30, maybe $40? weak remote but real simple and works (I have one and recently put one in for my in-laws as the S8200 kept having issues)
