Read previous posts. Excellent receiver, but crap firmware programming. Nice onscreen graphics. I dont have stability problems, just the other stuff posted. If you like I'll ask my supplier on your behalf and advise here if he supplies a firmware fix prior to you buying. Al.

Well you get what you pay for really!
Having said that i believe these are value for money.

I have seen better and worse, occasionally the sound doesn't quite sync with the picture but a quick channel change back and forward fixes that.

Occasionally it locks up and I have to jump up and power it off and back on.

The graphics are ok, again there are much nicer ones and a few worse. It is great for playing avi's and I have recorded a bunch of kids shows that they can watch (it stops MYSky filling up with Ben10 and My little pony!)

Would I buy another? Yup.

Ultraplus 780 Micro PVR or 880 Micro PVR. These cost more though.

Does anyone mind testing the issue I have with my timer on my Digistar? So I can see if it's the box or the firmware.

Set timer1 to record for 10 minutes, say 18:00 until 18:10, and then set timer2 to record just 2 minutes, say 18:15 until 18:17. (leave all other timers blank)
Then once both have been recorded are both the recordings only 2 minutes long? ie. timer1 only records for the duration of timer2.

Thanks in advance.

Latest firmware is now up on my site; fixes most issues apart from one item on EPG screen, but very good much improved over previous issues.

PM me if you want one of these units for just over $100.

Thanks for the new firmware. Downloaded and installed although not sure it has fixed my timer lengths issue.

One question, how do I set up a recording to work just once a week, every week? Eg. recording 24 every week on a Thursday night at 9:30 till 10:30. I only seem to have the option of One Time, Week 1-5 (every Mon-Fri) or Week 6-7 (every Sat-Sun). Am I missing something here?

Thanks.

OK, well Thursday is days 1-5 so you would set it to repeat 1-5 with the timer set to 1 min before and I usually allow 5 mins after the epg times.

Thanks for the new firmware - seemed to work on the 810U as well.

Thanks for the reply Al with regards the timer but I don't think it works like that. When you select Repeat 1-5 the date is blanked out and it records every week day (Mon to Fri) at the selected times.
Not to worry, just have to remember to set the timer every week.

Thanks for the Firmware, haven't had a lockup again.

It now pops up a message when a usb is inserted and it can read it, did it do this before? I can't remember!

Cheers

whoa there big fella! that wasn't a complaint!
It actually helps, as the kids would sometimes try and browse before the disk was loaded, they now know to wait for the message!

Thanks Al.

And gumboot, the USB inserted message is a new one, I'm pretty sure it didn't do that before.
