Cheers Paul. So, it seems that TV3 have maybe changed their encoding in such a way as to cause the ET box to flash green. I've just fished out a bunch 'o' cables and done some more tests. HDMI : Flash Component : Flash S-Video : Clean Composite : Clean. I'm not sure what this tells us other than the 2 analogue outputs are not affected (however, they look like sh*t as we know). I'm gonna try downgrading the ET firmware next - I think I have 1.04 still .... I shall report back. Mal
pete9321: more likely a fault in their transmission...
I agree Pete in that they've changed something ... strange though that it's only (AFAIK) affecting the ET. Oh, and I went all the way back to 1.03 and the green flashes came with me. Mal
The forum members have already made a good start on working out what's going on for you.
The ball is now in your court to proactively go and find out: 1) What TV3 have changed and why 2) If only the ET if effected and come back to us with a timely resolution.
Right, now we're getting somewhere. No flashing on the Draco, Zinwell, & PC Based PVR's it's looking increasingly like an interactive fault between the TV3 stream and the ET box. The TV3 stream is unique amongst the FreeviewHD channels in that it's 1080i - the problem appears to lie in the ET's decoding of 1080i. If someone - a forum member, or even better, Pete and the other importers/distributers could find out what, if anything has changed in the TV3 stream then we're halfway to fixing it.
I'm in Feilding, Manawatu, and receive freeview hd uhf feed from wharite transmitter only, the only transmitter in this area so no cross signals etc here. I watched House on Tuesday night and this was fine though others reported it was flashing green. Last night I watched Heroes (big let down?!) and this flashed green continuously every 10 seconds or so. Only HD outputs effected, sd outputs no green flash. My box had also been running fine for weeks now. Running latest firmware, have good signal strength via proper uhf external aerial and coax.
just checked and TV3 are aware of problem....they are fixing it....is affecting other makes of boxes also...as we just checked with other suppliers. E.T is not necessarilly green! See him Roswell...?
Brilliant Pete - thanks for checking it out. Did TV3 give you any idea when they'd have the problem fixed ? I'd be interested to know which other boxes are affected - odds are that the Visione will be one of them. As it seems to run the same chipset. If there's any member with the Visione VE4000 STB, could you please indicate whether you have the flashing green problem on TV3 ?
