some sort of mux change....
some receivers might need a factory default, and a retune...

We have factory checking it at their side to ensure this is safeguarded in the future.

OK, I'll ask the question for everyone:

Will we - as owners of earlier ET boxes - be safeguarded against repeats of this problem via an upcoming firmware release ?
Or is it a hardware solution ?

we are still finding out why/what caused this...but believe its unrelated to any firmware upgrade on their part...possible some sort of mux change...our factory is checking it out and will do any necessary changes to prevent it from happenning again.

I've had no return of the flashing at all .... where in NZ are you ?

The Simpsons earlier this evening, had 5 min of 1 frame every 4 sec and bad pixelation but my guess is that it was when the MediaWorks engineers were adjusting the encoder/headend. It went away, and, like the green flashing, hasn't returned.

what the......!!

I was watching CSI this evening and it was blinking green.
First it was barely noticeable...then it became irritating...then
all of a sudden my tuner rebooted. Afterwards everything is
fine again.

Can freeview actually do that ? Reboot your tuner remotely ?
Pretty cool, like killswitch from iPhone :)

Mine did the same thing rebooted and now it's ok, I did send an email to tv3 to tell them, maybe it worked

It appears TV3/MediaWorks tweaked things about 1630 this afternoon. I did a reboot during the Simpsons (due to the framerate/pixilation problems I described above) - The green flashing had already gone by then though.

Pete did mention up-thread, that a factory reset & reboot may be necessary to recognise the modded stream.

The spontaneous reboots are a new phenomenon - mine's never done that - I'm kinda jealous.

Bigted: Nice display there but with TV3 flashing green every 10-15 seconds it was unwatchable and was not a good look to say the least.

I can confirm that as of 1700 this evening, that the green flashing is back. Obviously the "fix" done by TV3 was temporary.

Pete, can you please inform us as to whether we will be able to solve this with a simple firmware upgrade or, is the problem inherent in the box?

I predict that unless this problem is rectified asap, there's going to be a lot of very unhappy campers out there - most of whom will be returning their ET boxes.

As the flashing is caused by the new PVR EPG I'd hope that the fix will include the oft promised PVR capability for the ET.
