Just look in the EPG. Anything you have marked for recording will be highlighted in grey.

Just be aware that the LAST programme timed into your timer (i.e. the one with the highest number) controls the duration (length) of all timed-in programmes before it. Therefore, be sure to have the longest programme nearest the end!!

I have just picked up one of these yesterday.
For less than $100 it seems to go very well. Have it hooked up to my 900mm satellite dish via a Motec motor. This is using diseqc 1.2 - so Petes comments that this funcion is fake is complete rubbish.

Only one strange event so far. I have this connected up to a Onkyo AV receiver. When I change inputs and then come back to the input with Digistar its in timeshift mode - so there maybe some IR conflicts here.

Have used old 120G IDE hard drive in USB enclosure. Used program Swissknife to refornat drive to FAT32. Seems to be working well.

Have not tested out all the functionality yet - but so far its all good.

Nope, nothing showed as a different colour to anything else. It did record tho so obviously it accepted it.

Nope, nothing showed as a different colour to anything else. It did record tho so obviously it accepted it.

On double checking I think you are right - although I did see it hilighted in grey somewhere..

I have a further question about this unit.
it doesn't appear to have a file manager that I can see.
How do you delete watched programs form the hard disk?
Do you need to move the hard disk to a computer in order to delete files?
Is there a way to do this within the unit itself?

IIRC (not at home atm) preview the recorded show - it gives the option to delete there.

This is quite annoying, does anyone know a quirky work around to prevent this? Or any news on a newer firmware to correct this?

Yes, the updated software would be helpful. It is a while since the previous release, they (?) might fix the obvious things. My one also freezes on the channel change if the signal is weak/distorted (In the case with SBS with quality <30%, the picture became pixelated and if you press "up" or "down the channel" buttons, the receiver freezes almost once in 2 cases, only off-on switch on the back helps).
Regarding the anonymous manufacturer: ezonecomputers store calls it "SOHO Digistar DSS-811U Digital Satellite Receiver With PVR" (SOHO Brand). I wrote to the customer service of that shop asking about details of the manufacturer or firmware updates, but no response so far...

They might be, but I found quite suspicious that they dont have the PVR feature even in the latest model listed (D-800).

Just found that the unit doesn't switch channel automatically UNLESS it is recording! Just in the timed programme area, you can say "start time only" but set the recorder to off. Doesn't work.
