Hi guys,

Thought you may like to know for today only http://www.mymemory.co.uk/ has %10 off everthing which would bring the price to approx $135.

May be an option for those that are looking to import.

The recording seems different to the viewing, in that PlayTV the software doesn't have to start up to record if a timer is set. You get that 25 seconds startup time from the XMB only if you have to start PlayTV to watch tv, set a recording or watch a pre recorded show.

I've found things just seem to work of the EPG, and this names the show correctly as well.
If you manually set a timer you don't seem to get a name that means much which was pretty common across the non MHEG5 STB's.

You can use some of the EPG in advance to book a show, it just won't have any info in it initially, but on the non TVNZ channels the time slots are still there. For TVNZ stuff in advance you have to set up a manual timer record.

As for start and stop times, I guess we'd have to give some thought to what time the PS3 is set to and what time the TV networks are using. If you're connected to the internet for time syncing this is probably not a problem, but for me I may have to be a bit more accurate with my guess of what the time actually is. Maybe, haven't looked into this.

I did the Hard drive upgrade last night. WD Scorpio 500Gb was about $135 incl gst from the online computer shops. I noticed some stuttering whilst watching and recording TV3 at the same time last night which wasn't there before, but also to be fair I'd never done that combination prior either. Not sure if it was a one off.

Drive change is just so easy it's a joke. Screws were very easy to get out but I could see how people could strip them, IF they used too small a screwdriver. Process for me was back up to external drive. (Has to be fat32, so limited to 32 ish GB, what if you have a 120gb ps3 drive? Can PS3 format an external drive itself?). Swap out PS3 hard drive. Turn on PS3. I had hoped it would format straight away but mine kept asking for firmware 3.01 upgrade on a media stick?! Luckily I still had this on a usb drive as I'd downloaded it elsewhere. Installed this which then formatted the new drive, and then restore backup. All good.

Shouldn't make much difference between SD and HD in terms of CPU usage, only hard disk writing rate but even a regular disk drive should keep up. If you were watching live TV at the same time, even then with the Cell processor, can't see how much impact that would have either.

I jumped on and got one from mymemory taking advantage of the 10% discount and free international shipping. Cheap enough just to try out for fun :-)

Jeez man we're talking about the same thing.

I'm hoping it works that way too. However, I don't have the harmony/PS3 adaptor yet, so I don't know how it works in the harmony software. I assume it works that way, I was simply asking if it does work that way from anyone else who's actually has one.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear, sorry. I do have the Harmony adapter and there's nothing special about it. You can essentially pretend it doesn't exist. All it does is let you pretend the remotes are compatible, i.e. IR<->BT, so the Harmony remote has all the functions of the Blu Ray remote. As with all other remotes, it lets you map any functions to any buttons.

Ordered from My Memory, $137 total can't complain.

Assume they courier so I sent it to the office, tick tock next week could be good with MW2 and PlayTV
