Brother brought one the same time as mum and I, and has r had the issue so far but maybe hasn't got time shift on.

The firmware itself won't be up-to-date unless its been updated after purchase. Is the box correctly hooked up to the Internet to pick up the firmware updates?

it doesnt need the internet for updates, it can get it over the air

Apparently the banner problem is back. :-(. And now on top of that she has the sound problem some of us had.

I told her to press the audio button for that so hopefully fixed that.

She's getting frustrated tho as can't warch tv onr at all now. Also her remote isn't very good, says she has to be practically on top of it to work.

Remote issues have never been a problem (if like my elderly mum, tends to not want to waste them, so often mixes old and new!). Pretty sure you'll find the batteries the issue there. I'm very frugal, but remote control batteries is not a place to try to save money for me! Also my mum, as I do the technology issues for her too. My late husband had a saying as a mechanic, I think its world wide and i always use it when trying to sort issues : "kiss" = keep it simple stupid. I start with power cord, remote, batteries etc, tbh, never can be simple enough when dealing with older people. Most often the tv/video toggle hit accidentally messes them up.

Dont assume zebras when you hear hoof beats, especially when it comes to the elderly. I understand and acknowledge that you've had problems, but I think u may be feeding insecurities to your elderly relatives now, and so setting yourself up for future problems.

Just my 2c. Anyway having read ALL posts, no remote issues except inconvenient buttons, (compared to other remotes), which can be addressed (purchasing the new T2200 remote or Harmony remote)

I will get her to try new batteries, but they are new ones from a new dish unit so assume straight out of the dish box two weeks ago would be fine. The buttons work, just narrow signal that you have to be very acdurate with pointing etc.

I had a google and found a couple,of other comments re the remote on dishtv units having a narrow angle so there are others who have had the same issue, one person fixed it by buying a remote extender dor $70 but obviously that shouldn't be needed as extra expense on a new box thst should already work. Nor should you have to purchase a Logitech harmony or any other remote.

I am not feeding insecurities to my elderly relatives at all. My mum rang me frustrated about the banner and sound problem, both times before I had even told her I had had the same/any problems, so Definately not fed by me at all. Also other people in the thread have has the same problems, with the same channel, and usually the same temporary fix.

I am a computer tech by trade so would like to think I know how to troubleshoot, if you look earlier my big list of things I spent ages doing before coming here, including things like changing cables (hdmi, aerial cable.etc), trying other aerials, comparing to other units that had no issue on the same aerials, upgrading software, checking signal strength, trying other channels etc.

While I realise I am not a dishtv expert, at the end of the day the unit should be capable of displaying a watchable tv channel,

As I said, I do like the unit and will persevere, just frustrating when I recommended the unit as I saw it for a good price and knew the brand and yet we have both have had the same problems (along with others) straight from the box

Yes, I had made sure it was up to date, everything was up to date, and we were getting both sound and vision problems from the device. Also, the on screen display was unsatisfactory for us as well, very weird way of showing movies in series view, and too small a font/colours not nice. We experimented, but for my older mother in law, nothing was simple/easy to read, and with the other issue of not recording correctly, we returned the box under the conditions of the CGA and have decided not to use the T2200 in future. We're waiting to see if anything new comes out.

a strange issue that i cannot work out.

My parents brought a T2200 yesterday, i set it up for them and update the firmware in set up. Now when they try to record something. they hit epg, select the program to record and hit ok, the option recrod, set reminder comes up. Now if they hit record nothing will happen, it wont bring up the option to recoord spisode or series, just nothing happens. they can set the reminder but not record. However if they go to the menu select mheg epg they can set programs to record from that, just not from the t2200 guide. Also have updated my box to the last firmware and do not have that problem. Have just done a factory reset on their box and it still will not record unless you use the mheg epg

Nope, different christine sorry I think that had a T on the side, I have a C next to mine. Too many Christines :-) (I used Christene as Christine was taken from memory)

I still have my box, which is working fine (now!), but mum has hers and hers isnt. still multiple issues on hers - ie banner coming up, sound issues and the remote issue.

Didn't realise that - learn something new everyday!. I notice that the manual says : "Update over the AIR (Freeview) In rare cases, we will make a software update available over the air so that the devices can be updated in time for a significant change over the Freeview network, however this is not the regular method of updating software. "

I assume this means they only release firmware fixes over the air for times when things are REALLY broken and sounds like not all firmware updates get shipped using that method so my reply was half right perhaps :)

just to add to this, have done a factory reset of my box also to find that I can't record any more either so perhaps a problem with the new firmware?

Hi All

We have a software update available now for the T2200 that compensates for this issue and it is active as a forced update.

If your T2200 is connected to the Internet, your receiver will automatically update to this new software.

If your T2200 is not connected to the Internet but you have Internet access from a Computer the software can be downloaded from www.dishtv.co.nz and loaded onto the unit via a USB flash drive.

If you do not have Internet access we can post you out a USB flash drive with the software already loaded and instructions on how to perform the update.

Let me know if you need help with this method/s

@joshhill96 can you not push it out OTA as well

really please some suggestions were listened to, like it now shows S002 when its time shifting as opposed to SHFT or P001. now you know what channel you are on.

would have been nice to see some of the other suggestions implimented, it has been about 3 months since the last update.

Hi Josh and anyone else with the following problem:

During playback, if I pause the recording for more than a few seconds, when I unpause it I get a notification, "playback aborted due to invalid/corrupt content". So I have to play it again from the beginning and fast forward to where I was and repeat if I pause playback again. This is happening on playback on different recordings.

ALSO when I press play again and am asked "resume playback, yes/no" and I click yes, it plays from the beginning of the recording and NOT from where it is supposed to.

Yesterday morning the box updated itself but the issue is still happening.

Also when I stop the recording it carries on playing (sound only, no picture) even though the on screen menu shows it as stopped. It's now very difficult to watch anything!

Please can you help?

I had the same problem with invalid /corrupt content last night after having paused for a while, and also forced to start from the beginning again. Just happened 1 time though, and I did not get the sound problem when stopping.
