I ended up dropping my unit in to demonstrate.  Peter says that he'll return it tomorrow.

Just to confirm with everyone,  we wired up my amp and after 20 minutes of watching crap daytime TV the Engineers have now repeatedly experienced the audio dropout problem via spdif.

I just joined to say I offered my unit to Pete on Sunday, and was willing to drive up from Hamilton to facilitate it, but he said he had one that was showing the issues. So all was well. I have left the offer open in case he needed further units, or to test when a fix is available.

I tried mine again today and on C4 its dropping out every few seconds, to the point of being unusable. It used to be just occasionally, I wonder what has changed to increase the frequency of the problem (obviously not the ET firmware and its the same ET box).

I also noted that the pixelation I used to experiance has gone away, I guess its just amatter of time, but right now its all crystal clear.

Any mention of the pixellation issues?

I asked freeviewshop this but no response

No mention of the pixellation issues.  To be honest, I can;t say that I've noticed this on my unit.

I understand from Peter that they think that they have got the audio through the spdif sorted.  It was some kind of timing issue possibly related to the issye the mythTV guys experienced.  He said that once the fix went in, they had it running all night with no dropouts.

I asked the engineer about when the software would be ready, he said that it would be e-mailed through to Peter around the 2nd week of May.

Fingers crossed lads.  I just want to see some results now.

Great to see some traction on these issues.

1. I regularly get pixellation on Channel 3 - however MUCH improved after Pete changed my box
2. Oversensitive remote is a pain. Jumping 2 or 3 channels on the up/down button. Drives my wife demented. Any suggestions for a fix?
3. PVR? Any news on this front.

Cheers

No one mentioned the frequent reboots...

Mine hasnt been too bad lately, and then last night (something on 3 - cant remember what), 3 reboots in one hour. No way software should crap out like that (unless the hardware is bad) and if so, why do people have such a hard time getting hardware replaced?

I've never had this problem, so might be a faulty unit?
No ones mentioned the distortion on at least one of the rca analogue audio outputs at the rear either.

Big one for me is the hanging menus when I change channel, or not being able to change channel, all magically fixed by a (manual) reboot.

Will be stoked to have the digital audio dropouts fixed though, I'd rather have a working reliable platform first, before trying to build a PVR on top of that.

Second week of May, roll on!
(I have already unplugged my ET box, but may yet plug it back in, oh, sometime in 2010..!?)

Yup. . . . . . . Six months now with no support.  I can now say I've done all I can to get this fixed.

Sorry JJM, just read your 3rd point.  I believe that the PVR is rolled into the pending update . . . . . if/when it arrives.
