How did you go setting up a wiki? I had to search the forum again for one of my old posts, when I moved my STB to a new dish

Note to self: When moving check that the power to STB is turned on it will save you have an hour of head scratching!

Hi all,

I realize this is an old thread but I am thinking about buying the 811u.

Have the minor bugs been fixed since last year? Ie. Firmware update?

Cheers :)

Hi All, does anyone know why the clock on the Digistar 811U keeps changing?

I have updated the firmware (but still showing same version as was before)

I also am not getting no EPG for channels on Optus D2 (not freeview)

Thanks

I just got the new model of the 811, with HDMI, for $129.

"New arrived Digistar 860UH is an upgrade model of 811UB which comes with HDMI output. Please note it is a SD receiver as there has no HD programs broadcasting on satellite freeview. "

That for all the help everyone :)

is it capable of an HD satellite picture? If so you'd be able to view SBS HD.

No idea if it can do Satellite HD, but it can receive other Satellite channels. Here's the auction with info about it.

I don't have any problems with time changing - only timer recording of different lengths. There was some "twist" to make to unit work correctly when you first got it - can't remember what it was!

I also bought one via trademe.
its ok. best thing about it was the 500GB 2.5 USB drive that came with it.

I wanted to check the firmware for latest version.  Accordingly, I wrote to the vendor and EVENTUALLY they wrote back saying that it HAS the latest version etc.
bated 2008. is that correct for the rest of you "proud" 811U S or B owners?

I HAD found elsewhere in these fori? forums?  forae?  (please supply your won latin plural)
an update but my STB rejected it saying wrong software version.

faulty unit maybe. All I did for optus D2 was point and tune. Get an epg on most channels no prob.
Don't have D2 tuned any more so can't confirm if all channels had epg or just selection but definitely NHK World ha an epg.
Also epg on D1 (freeview) no prob.
Sometimes you do need to reload the epg a couple of times with this unit for it to drag down all the listings.

timmmay: I just got the new model of the 811, with HDMI, for $129.

Just curious what the appeal of these Digistar boxes is please?
For that price you could get that new Ultraplus HDMI PVR which by all accounts doesn't have the range of issues that seem to be associated with the Digistar units.
