I have the Panasonic DMR-PWT530 (Blu-ray player twin digital tuner with an internal Hard Drive). It had a firmware update on the 02/06/2015, to v1.37 and I have found that it won't show the Al Jazeera channel, it just shows "no service" even though the signal strength & quality show maximum. Al Jazeera has been viewed through the '530' for many many months prior to the update. (not sure if update is cause).

A 32 inch Samsung TV I have, the UA32H5500AS, also had a firmware update in June & now also will not show Al Jazeera. Updated the firmware last night to the one that was released on the 03/07/2015 but that made no difference. This firmware is v2139 and the one in June was v2138.

I have two other Panasonic TVs and a Magic TV 3600 Set-top box & they still show Al Jazeera. None of those have had a firmware update. I think something in the two firmware updates are causing the problem.

I can't think of any other reason, other than the firmware updates, causing this because of the other units showing Al Jazeera.

Anyone else experiencing Al Jazeera showing on one device but not another, where both used to show Al Jazeera?

You need to look to see if the firmware in the units are the same as mine.

Like happyone65 says - try a forced re-tune and see if that resolves it.
After that its maybe worth a call to the hardware suppliers support lines - But I am sure the first thing they would tell you is to do a retune.

Fortunately with DTV its super simple to do - OMG - remember the old days of tuning a TV?

My newest Panasonic TV is a 2012 model, the TH-P50ST50Z & when I choose the "download from tv" in the PWT530, I got a message about that function is not supported on the TV.

I have just heard back from Panasonic, who tried a PWT530, with the same firmware as mine and it shows AL Jazeera on their TV. I think they are in Auckland.
They think I may have a corrupted firmware and, as I bought it 11 months ago, they suggest taking it to the repair shop for investigation.

I did a "channel update', no change. Reset it to shipping condition & went through the setup again & still no change.

Looks like I will need to take it in to the repair shop for them to look at it.

An Update.

Spoke to a repair Tech at a Wairarapa TV repair shop & he says that over the past week or so, he has been called out to many TVs,  to fix Al Jazeera stopped showing.
He could not get Al Jazeera back.

He thinks something has changed in the signal that effects some tuners but not others. He is going to make enquiries & get back to me.
I just phoned a friend in Masterton & he says his Samsung TV will show Al Jazeera but his Sony won't.

I wonder if this problem is just happening in the Wairarapa?

Need to call in Mulder and Scully. lol

Another update.

I contacted a person I know at JDA, the company responsible for the transmission in the Wairarapa & some other areas.
Their techs went and did a fix.
To receive Al Jazeera again, you have to do a retune.

Cause was:

"it's part of the transition from one mux to the other. Sets can see both in the digital tables as we prepare for the change and some don't know how to handle it."
