Hi guys,

So ive currently got the old grey skytv stb. which is not upgradable to HD unless you move to Mysky.
Has anyone used the Skybox V8? are they any good? they cost about $140 on trademe and just wondering if im going to get a cheap piece of turd..
I would be using my sky card which is supported. Another reason to upgrade is so i can get channels 1,2 & 3 in HD. currently watching them through the sky decoder and the quality is pretty horrible for todays age. Dont want to buy a freeview player as its just another unit in the cabinet and i would prefer all TV channels in one device.

thanks,
Sam

Not to sure how much i can say about it. It does everything i want it too as far as watching, recording, media player. No WiFi adapter so can't comment on the quality of the online streaming. I only use it for Freeview so can't comment on the Sky aspect. I'd be more inclined to spend a few $ more and get a Sat/Ter combo box like the Cloud iBox III. That way I could have true HD Ter for channels 1 to 3 and Sat for the rest. Just check with the seller that you can record a Ter channel while watching a Sat channel(and vice versa).

Probably the only real issue I've had was initial setup. I have a 3LNB setup running off 1 dish through a diseqc switch & had to play with the 22khz/diseqc options to get everything running properly.

I think this should be in the "Sky" area.

Can you clarify what the skybox does? I have an old-school Motorola decoder, with nasty SD image quality.

I don't want to spend any more money on subscriptions for Mysky etc, this sky account is pretty much for live sport only. Have HD-ticket because of multi-room.

With this Box can you get HD on the limited channels Sky offers it?

Just checked a trademe listing, apparently doesn't work with the gold Mysky card (which I have).

I hve the skybox f5 and it crashes on occasion.   Enough to be a bit annoying but not enough not to buy.
