Which tuner card are you using?  I've had similar problems with the HVR-1700.  This occurs even when switching from DVB-T to the S-Video input.
I've been meaning to post on the Media Portal forums after I get some free time to document it properly.

My initial suspicion is that the card isn't properly detected as a hybrid, so the transition between analogue and digital may not be being handled properly.

I have posted another thread in the MP TV server forum to see if we can get any more help with the problems we are having.  Didn't get a reply on the last request for help.

Cheers
Andy

Im having this problem   "Cannot start timeshifting Uknown error" Media portal RC1 and RC2

On a
Shuttle SG33G5
Q9300 Quad 2.5
4gb ram
Leadtek PX9600GT 512mb
Nova T 500HD tuner
All prerequisites and updates met.

It happens when I put the HTPC, Vista to sleep mode, and then resuming, starting Mediaportal with a delay of 30secs and 25 secs as configured in TV Server.
If I restart the TV server service it works fine.

No response on Mediaportal forums

I'm revisiting Mediaportal after paying for and using DVBviewer, I just found DVBviewer doesnt integrate to my liking. Mediaportal is a lot slicker.
However Honestly regretting going this route (HTPC), however it seems this is only real way to record HD DVB-T with EPG at this point in time.  I thought I went through pain pioneering a lot of the nztivo work 4+ years ago, but this is something else!

What happens if you tick 'Re-initialise service on wake up' (TV-Server Config - Power Scheduler - Advanced)?

I found my system wouldn't work on resume because the card was locked on the settings it had going into standby.  At the moment I have set the motherboard to keep the PCI slots live in S3 and so the problem doesn't occur.

'Re-initialise service on wake up' produces the same result for me.
What is the setting called to keep the PCI slots live in the BIOS?

Good point.  On reading the manual, the setting for the PCI slots is actually a wake up setting NOT a power setting, sorry Yell.  The jumper settings on the motherboard apply only to the USB ports (that's what happens when you try to help without access to the machine or manuals).

Once again I apologise for any goose chases this may have sent you on.

Ok I think I have solved it, I disabled the power setting "Allow Hybrid Sleep" in Vista and retested.  It worked first time with my 10sec delay startup of Mediaportal.  I'll get rid of the delay and retest.

Now onto sorting out my Codecs, I get with EVR enabled, I get a sort of juddering in the picture all channels, notciable when the camera pans, and only on TV2 i get occasional pixel break up in a very small area on the picture.

Then onto sorting out the FAN noise in my shuttle.. phew..

sorry didnt mean to. Although that is the same error.
You say it fixes it when you reboot, so i assume it also fixes it if you restart the "tv server" service without reboot?

Hi sorry about the sidetracking (not quite a full hijack). I don't have an HVR-2200 but I have configured my cards as hybrids in the past.
Can you confirm that you have set the 2200 up as a pair of hybrid cards?  From what I can tell you should have it so MP TV-Server sees it as 2 hybrid cards with one DVB-T tuner and one analogue tuner on each card.  And make sure you haven't got them crossed over.  So the hybrid card screen in TV-Server will look something like:

-HVR2200one
         --DVB(T)
         --Analogue
-HVR2200two
         --DVB(T)
         --Analogue

And -T1 and Analogue1 are definitely in hybrid 1, and -T2 and Analogue2 are definitely in hybrid 2?  It's just that if you have played with the priority in TV-Server it is easy to get them mixed up and you effectively lock both tuners with one channel.

Hi

I'm in the process of testing out software/hardware possibilities to build a HTPC.

I got a HVR-2200, and have been very frustrated with exactly the same problem.

Finally, nearing 3am I seem to have found a solution (well a workaround) Laughing

What you do is you group both analogue tuners into to the same hybrid group, so you have three tuners in one and a single digital in the other.

Sure you are losing the ability to record two analogue channels, but if you are like me, and only using analogue for Prime, then you don't need this feature. Meanwhile you still get two digital tuners.

I've flicked between digital/analogue about 10 times in a row and seems to work fine. Give it a try to see if it works for you!

Time for bed for me!!
