I'm having problems with TVNZ bit not TV3, c4, Maori etc.  I downloaded a signal qality program and it said that the TVNZ signals were at 60% while the others werwe at 100%.  I presume this is why I'm having problems. What does this mean - I had assumed that all frequencies were transmitted from the same aerial so why would I see this difference

Most likely reason is interference, you maybe picking up a adjacent channel signal. What Tx are you pointing at and whats your approx location.

Hi Cyril.
I live in Seatoun / Wellington.  I've simply plugged my PC into my aerial socket which I no longer use gor Tv as I have Saturn.  I'm using Wellington Infill as I couldn't get anything off Kaukau.

Thanks Cyril.
I think we're pointed there but I still not  sure I quite understand.  Why do I get perfect TV3 - Are the TVNZ Freeview channels broadacst differently?

No all are identical except for frequency, they use the same transmitters model and all sit in the same racking and feed into a common combiner and common antenna. However the channels are spread of 50MHz or so, therefore propagation anomolyies can cause a large difference especially if you are not clear line of sight and clear of freznel zones.

Dont forget Fitzherbert is Vertical, KauKau horizontal, check you are set for Vertical if thats where you are aiming.
