I'm looking for a decent web host that provides dedicated servers (not VPS or cloud servers) in Sydney to host Windows 2012 SE.

In particular I'm looking for really good international connectivity (esp to NZ and US).

I've come across: https://www.dedicatedservers.net.au/servers/dedicated.php

And would be looking at something like the "Enterprise R5 5620" plan which is:
- 2x Intel® Xeon® QuadCore 5620
- 12GB RAM
- 2x 1TB SATA RAID
- 2TB Bandwidth *edit

Just wanting to know if anyone has any other recommendations?

Wow,

That is expensive.
I recommend phoenixnap or securedservers.com

24/7 support, Call for free via Skype. Amazing connection to NZ and get like 2GB bandwidth.

For AU or NZ, Rackspace have deals every now and again.

Server must be Sydney-based.

Phoenix nap are unrivaled for support from personal experience. I get around 120ms ping to the server.

For around the same price you can get 1GBp/s with a few TB's of data, TB's of space. Dual quad cores with 48-64GB Ram. 24/7 support (They rebuilt my linux machine 8 times in one night, Didnt even bat an eye. Just did it.)

Specific business requirement, short-term project.

Sorry TimA didn't realise Rackspace were in Sydney too, unfortunately they seem like a bit too hard work to deal with for dedicated servers (judging by the chat session) as need to arrange a sales call etc just to get pricing.

Ideally I just want something I can just provision via online form.

Currently on AWS for other servers, disk IO won't cut it for this project, need dedicated hardware.

Good luck for AU/NZ for what your after :)
You are looking at the cheapest range of servers at the start. God knows how good the support is if your in need of help. Phoenix nap has a SLA of 30 minutes.

Not sure what you mean? I never said anything about price being an object.

US wont do as it requires low latency to Sydney.

Sorry, first assumption.
My recommendation has been provided. Otherwise other members might know of a good one with good support plus servers.

what sort of IOPS do you need?  Doesn't AWS have SSD backed instances in Sydney?

Windows Azure is coming to Sydney/Australia, but I don't yet have the dates to share :(

Need more IO than IOPS. AWS is great for concurrency but for a single disk write operation I'm lucky to consistently crack 1MB/s (usually much slower even with provisioned iops).

Ok so it's no AWS;

But Digital Pacific seems all right so far;

(customer service etc included), provisioned within 24 hours, minimal drama.

Out of curiosity what do your average NZ UFB speed tests look like to AK, SYD & CA ?
