http://www.nzherald.co.nz/ have just added a really annoying drop down when you mouse over the menu which I"m sure is ok on a really fast new i7 which I don't have, but not helpful on my slow dual core laptop.

I'm running firefox and adblocker.

Does anyone know if that function is in a script that can just be blocked to make it go way?

I'd put the blame on Firefox it has really gone downhil performance-wise in the last few versions.

As an experiment give I suggest you give Google Chrome a try.  I bet you the menu performs fine in Chrome (does here).

There are blocking extensions for Chrome too now if you can't live without them (AdThwart or AdBlock etc).

Hi, I agree re ff performance.  Not changing to chrome just to fix one site, just stop browsing the site as often if I can't fix it.

I also have grease monkey installed as I have an extension for my fav forum that adds a stack of other features.

You shouldn't change to Chrome for one site, but rather because it's by far the best performing and designed browser across the board now (in my opinion).

Ok, just upgraded the computer to see if that improved it. No, it's just as annoying, I thought it was delayed from dropping down by my computer, but it just pops up randomly when you move the mouse over the menu, which is really just annoying as I often pause to read something else before I click and then that thing pops up! grr.
