The phone is not in awake mode either, it does go into deep sleep the only thing keeping it awake (and being recorded) is spotify when i am using that

So this morning it went from 100% to 96% between home and work (30 minutes)

Just been into the spark store and talked to them, they want to send it away "to be looked at" and it will take 10 business days.
The phone is not even 6 days old.

current at 84% 3 hours standby and 24 minutes on screen, with power saving mode on, all sync off.

Just waiting for the "store manager" to call me back after I told them i find it total unacceptable for a phone less than a week old with everything to do with a smart phone disabled.

The battery % is not actually that reliable on many phones. Have you actually run it right out? You might find from 30% - 0% lasts another day.

So after the last 2 days running around after spark, dealing with 5 or 6 different people they asked for me to go back out to the store I purchased it from to be tested. This test was putting in a draw for 30 minutes to see how much it dropped on standby.
it dropped 1% with battery saving mode on and nothing else (no sync/gps etc) also showed the people at the store how it dropped 20% in 4 hours with battery saving on and 30 minutes of screen time.
They would not accept it as a fault or replace the phone, but would credit the invoice back if I gave back the phone and was told to "go and buy it from the sony store as we don't want to risk selling you another one"

So now I have no phone at all as the sony store did not have any in stock, I also have $130 worth of docks I can no longer use, a case on its way that is useless unless I come up with $730 (cheapest NZ z3 compact i can find).

If only i had not sold my old phone last week

Nope, yesterday only 2.5 hours screen life (low settings) standby with battery saving on, most syncing turned off and it was down to 17%.
Now i would expect this from a nexus 5 however sony has a smaller screen and bigger battery and my nexus 5 use to have everything on sync, the sony did not.

So picked up another z3 compact last night (this time from JBhifi), took it home, set it all up and surprise everything is working great.

Battery life is great with everything turned on, Up to 14 hours with no power savings on and its still 72% with just over 1 hour screen time.

I did a small test between the 2 devices last night (had screen shots of the last devices battery usage) and I had close to 4x the amount of on screen time between the new and old z3 compact.

So I am now happy with the devices, not so happy with spark and the running around they made me do for nothing.

Glad to see you got a result, though likewise disappointed in Spark making you run around. Hopefully onwards and upwards, or, at least slowly downwards in terms of battery use lol

Any word on when lollipop might roll out from Spark for the Z3 Compact?

Also another note, had the phone since October and recently the screen started going black on the right half (dark gradient from centre of screen). It happened on and off and now is stuck like that 90% of the time. I guess it's just bad luck, but for a new phone this isn't looking good long term. Will have to return it to Spark but not really looking forward to no smart phone for weeks while they service it.

Current issue I've got is the speaker plug has stopped working. Everything else is brilliant.

Have you plugged it in to a PC and run PC Companion? Don't wait for OTA updates.

Never tried that, first time having a phone tied to a network figured that would have to stick to their version. Will updating it through the companion void anything with Spark? As I will need to get the screen repaired in the near future.

It's still the same update through PC companion, just often PC companion has the update live before the OTA method.

It won't void you warranty as it's still an official update method.

Well it seems we might be skipping 5.0.2

The D5833 z3 compact and D6653 Z3 (NZ and AU models) have just got certified for android 5.1

Currently 5.0.2 has been rolling out in the US/EU for their model of phone.  NZ and AU has not started the 5.0.2 rollout

If we do get 5.0.2 it might not be to long, it is interesting how only these models at this time have been cert for 5.1
Maybe sony will roll out 5.0.2 to US/EU then 5.1 for our models and then update US/EU again.

Info here

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Android-5.1-certified-for-Sony-Xperia-Z3-and-Sony-Xperia-Z3-Compact_id67928

N
ow I know it does not say 5.1 however it has gone up to 23.2.xxx sony normally only updates the 2nd point for a new android version i.e. 5.1
