No problems at all with battery life here on 5.1.8, with little use I can still have 80% at the end of the day :)

No battery drain issues here usually end up with 50% at the end of the day sometimes it will hit 10% at the end of the day if I am using it alot. Its always going to depend on how much CPU/GPU your using and I do have face unlock disabled(You should anyway as it is not really secure) which is where a lot of people say cause mega drain on the battery or playing PUBG.

 

Only real issue I am having an issue with the Fingerprint sensor at the moment where it will error on my fingerprint after a few days but after a reboot has no issues when I present the same part of my fingerprint.

 

Parallel imported must have changed their pickup point for them as mine came with a UK Plug which I do think is a better safer plug even with an adapter unlike the US plugs.

 

Yeah my fingerprint scanner seems to suck too, lucky I'm lax about security and just use the face scan

Finally bought a OnePlus 6 this week and generally love the phone, but I was hoping for some advice on screen protectors:

I'm getting a terribly annoying 'rainbow' effect on the screen following putting a (cheap eBay-sourced) tempered glass screen protector on; this is the first time I've ever had this on a phone , and I'm not sure if it's just the particular screen  protector or is something that is more likely with the screen on the 6 (I understand it's not completely flat?). What have other owners experienced in regards to this, and would a different/more expensive/different type of protector deal to this? (The one I've installed has the 'blacked-out' component that is slightly larger than the type that solely cover the screen component.)

In relation to the charger: I see that Noel Leeming no longer has Oppo's VOOC charger listed on their website. I guess I could just get an adapter for the dash charger that came in the box (retailer didn't supply one), or is it worth buying a proper one, say the VOOC charger from PB Tech?

Electrically the US/UK/NZ VOOC/dash charger are the same the only difference is the pins.

Is it worth buying a NZ charger over using a travel adapter depends entirely on you.

If you have a US dash charger you will be bypassing built in protections of the plug(1/2 insulated pins)

If you have a UK dash charger you will at least have some of the same sort of protections as a NZ plug provided you do buy a travel adapter with insulated plugs however the pins are much bigger and a travel adapter(at least that I have seen) don't include the shutters which does make it easier for a kid to stick something inside along with the fact it is a massive plug once you have added the travel adapter so if you travel buying a VOOC charger would be easier.

Safest option is to get a NZ VOOC charger it is only $15 more than buying a travel adapter, the whole travel adapter thing is a huge gray area that if you understand the risks associated with a travel adapter and you have full control over who is able to touch it is "technically safe" as-in it wont blowup or blowup your device.

Screen Saver. Dumb question, but you did remove the factory applied screen protector first? I'm pretty sure all OP phones come with them on.

Adapter. No doubt, go for a genuine NZ Oppo one, they are cheap enough. I bought a couple for my OP5s, they are so much safer and cleaner than using adaptors. I see PBTech now stock the 10VDC car VOOC adaptor as well. I also bought a couple of those - more expensive, but work well.

Just for reference if someone is shopping. I seem to remember that at one point PBTech supplied the NZ OPPO VOOC charger when buying the OnePlus phones, but their web listings don't seem to make a specific mention of that now. When I looked say 4 months ago in a store, one seemed to be bundled in the package though. Would pay to check.

Yep, I did remove the plastic factory screen protector - I found the additional friction of it (compared to glass) quite frustrating!

I've got another more traditional screen protector to try at the point I can't take the 'oil slick' anymore, but before I purchase any additional protectors I'd hoped to have an idea of what I should be looking for/avoiding. This is the only downer on what is otherwise a great phone. (Especially like the off-screen gestures; really useful for things like torch or starting Android Auto when in the car.)

Ok, will source one of the proper VOOC chargers; The Dash charger provided with the phone is already a damn long object so, yeah, by the time a travel adapter is added that'll be one massive thing. That said, I'm not sure how often I'll need to charge quickly.

I was curious and a quick google search "tempered glass screen protector rainbow effect" turned up plenty of info and possible solutions. It seems to be an issue with some tempered protectors causing Newton rings. Not a specific issue with OnePlus.

Personally, I've not had an issue with the original screen protectors, seem slippery enough to me.

d3Xt3r: I'm still using the original factory screen protector and its been excellent. I don't like the glass screen protectors because they shatter easily, are a pain to apply and stand out too much, but the plastic ones just blend into the device and barely jut out. Don't really have an issue with the feel of the screen, I dont use swipe-to-type but scrolling, swiping in games and other apps etc is smooth enough (maybe I've got smooth fingers or something, but never felt any extra friction).

I've also dropped my phone a couple of times already and the plastic screen protector held up well - if I were using a glass one it would have shattered already. I'm now considering selling my original OEM glass protector (unopened, still in the box) so if anyone's interested please PM me. :)

You can install it using the Oxygen Updater app on the Play Store.

I haven't installed it yet though, will wait for Xposed to be updated.

Edit: But the bullet and updated to Pie, everything is working well. Will have to somehow manage without Xposed for the time being I suppose.
