Kopkiwi: Check out the new LG. Sounds like it has what the SIII should have.

Impressive build quality, awesome screen, 2GB of RAM, yes 2!

LG are terribad

Agreed - and people need to remember their history regarding the LG Optimus 2X when it launched against the S2 - everyone was banging on about the specs, yet it was slower in almost every test against the I9100.

We need to reserve judgement until all these devices have had some real-world use.

Am I the only one to see the irony of someone called sonyxperiageek suggesting that they don't have a smartphone yet and are trying to choose between two Samsung models?

Welliegeek: lol. I should've said "another" smartphone, and my name shows that i know about sony xperia. Not that i have one: )
i didn't like the new xperias non removeable battery and no sd card..

And joker97: yes, i think my hand is big enough for it, and specwise, Note doesn't have NFC, does it? That would be my letdown.. oh and sound quality.

I really don't see the point in 2GB of ram in a smartphone at this time.

I agree, if you need more than 1Gb of RAM, I'd seriously reconsider the use of the smartphone and look at a laptop

Ah no, it only has 1GB, it's still a good device though.

I don't know if I am sold on the GS3...

To date, I have tried;
Nokia N97 - best form factor, but underpowered, poor OS (Symbian)
Nokia N900 - best OS (Maemo)
Samsung Galaxy 1 - best specs at the time, but feels and looks cheap plastic
HTC EVO 3D - Quality solid build and look, but 3D camera just a gimmick/hurts eyes, and very buggy
iPhone 4S - beautiful looking phone but way overrated, buggy, limited and locked down, screen to small

The new GS3 specs look solid, but again it still looks cheap and plastic...if they could only put it into a solid and quality looking casing, it would be a winner.

Neither the original Galaxy S nor the Galaxy SII were made of materials that looked high quality, yet both of them had great build quality, durability and less problems than competing handsets. The One X has problems with the ceramic coating chipping and I've seen reports of yellow spots on the screen or something like that.

Fixed. At least for the ceramic coating chipping, the One X doesn't even have a ceramic coating...

As for the yellow dots, 90% of the time its the same whole yellowgate thing we had with one of the iPhone launches, nothing more than the screen glue settling
