The solution is deceptively simple... Just remove your SIM card before you boot up the phone and go through the setup process. It'll see that mobile data can't be used and ask for WiFi details instead.

Or, you could just hold IN the power button until the menu appears and turn OFF mobile data before continuing??

EDIT" Ooh, froze Messaging in Titanium Backup and just using Handcent - stops the screen waking on text receipt! Finally!

So, it's worth a shot to give Handcent a try? I might just do that.

I'm just playing with the handset at the moment and getting used to the stock apps. I've installed Launcher Pro and will likely set up things similar to my HTC Desire.

Have to say that the Sense UI is better than TouchWiz, but at least with Android we can customise to our hearts content.

Sense UI is better, I don't really think many would contend with that (except perhaps to point out what a resource hog it is). As you say though, this is Android, what comes as stock is barely relevant... TouchWiz toggles in the notification pulldown are better than HTCs implementation, as is accessing the Task Manager.

Doh! Just found out that Tasker has a BLN plugin! Awesome! Can now add my RSS feed notifications to the list of things that trigger alerts! ...and anything else I care to have BLN work for!

weird thing happening recently, unplugged tghe phone from the charger, and every now and then it thinks its plugged in, makes the little beep and the lightning bolt appears, lasts a fraction of a second. any ideas?
darkys mod for kg6, could it be software bug or hardware?

I had similar one, cleaned out charger/microusb port and it was fixed. Might be worth a try..

Yeah noob question, I probably should know since I installed CM on my desire. Can I installing lite'ning rom on my S2 without completely wiping it? this is the main thing stopping me as its a pain to reinstall everything.;

It should say whichever rom you installing whether it's a full wipe or non wipe rom. Depends on the rom..
For eg cognition I didn't have to wipe but for leomar I had to do full wipe.

Titanium backup is your friend..

Its best to occasionally do a full wipe ROM install anyways, with Titanium Backup the pain is minimal.

BTW, is anyone else LOVING BLN with Tasker? I'm loving being able to set it up to give my LED notifications for stuff like my RSS reader...

If anyone hadn't seen it lots of the kernels are now supporting BLN, including notable ones like Ninphetamine - means you can have BLN on whatever ROM you like now...

Will installinh a stock rom wipe anything? Want to upgrade from vfau kf2 to vfau kf4 due to pathetic 3g drop out while surfing. Drives me nuts

Well the ROM needs to support it. Or atleast the fliblight? file needs to be added..

Maybe? On the SGSI you just needed a kernel that supported it, ROM didn't matter particularly.

In terms of battery drain: of course there will be some, LEDs aren't self-powering after all. Doesn't seem to have unduly affected me the last few days.
