I think you are fine MH8 I think is the first of them and yours is a 4.2.2 bootloader so all good

So are you saying I should flash this ROM you mentioned with 4.4? I presume a wipe would be required?

yes a full wipe required. If you want knox free bootloader and Samsung 4.4.2 this is the only rom at the moment that can do this without other problems like no wifi, and you can go back to previous versions.

Its running very well I've installed wnam xposed and appops so getting it to work really well I'm pleased.

well I've been on 4.4 for a few months so can't really recall what the differences were to be honest but it is certainly quicker and AOSP is even faster but thats because it has less software but I like the sammy roms'. 4.4.2 is being released now to Korean variants of S4 so assuming internationals next but since you are rooted you won't get OTA unless you go back to stock. So given that you have nothing to lose except having to set things up again but with Titanium backup it doesn't take very long at all. Your choice and maybe I'm just flashing updates for the sake of it, ok I am ;)

Think it's all to do with kernel sources.... There was a few posts of a dev by the name of Chad (apology if this is wrong) but he managed to crack the code without Sammy kernel sources so people with old bootloaders cannot run new FW. 4.3 is ok since samsung have released the source and the devs have managed to implement workarounds.

He had posted his kernel but hadn't divulged any of his kernel source - not that he was charging people for it or anything, but he wanted to protect his IP as such. XDA have since banned him and any links to his work - I wouldn't be surprised if this was related to that....

Echo used it when it first came out before it got banned and it seemed to fix all the issues. Shame really - this guy seemed like a pretty amazing dev to make a kernel work without sources...

May give this a shot, but have just flashed GPe to give it a whirl - something new/different but I'm kinda missing my TW extras already.

thanks for that, I do recall some talk on banning but didn't connect the two but now makes sense. Anyway the thing is that it has a work a round so glad I waited.

Try broodplanks AOSP been on it for a few months and runs very well. Install exposed framwork, garvity box and wanam's kit module and it customizes things very well but like you I missed the TW stuff.

Sweet, I might try bloodpranks later. Currently running Danvdh's GPe release. Using gravity box and XuiMod. Xposed is so awesome.

Even though it's still the 1st cycle I'm very impressed at the difference in battery life!

Biggest things I have missed today....
- Sammy keyboard (with secondary keys enabled)
- camera (needs more testing) but especially pano sync
- little features like swipe to call/message & pick up to call
- Facebook contact sync

Will give it more time and see where I end up!

I found battery very good but not surprising given the junk that Samsung has that you need to switch or sync for.

I think there is an issue with the front camera being out of focus on AOSP not sure on GE roms as its been a while since I flashed one and I don't use front camera.

I've still got my cheapo Apacer 32gb class 10 from PBtech and never had any issues at all.

ok well a couple of days on SHOstock-i 4.4.2 Sammy rom and its going very very well. Battery life is amazing but always seemed to have better battery life on Sammy Roms than AOSP for some reason. There is a bit of bloat removed but still a bit of lag on some apps, Facebook in particular, in comparison to AOSP wich is just super fast.

Already had an update which corrected the first problems of not installing and no problems at all.

If you are into flashing custom roms this is very good for kikat sammy leak and worth a look.

and no knox bootloader I'm still on MDE so no need to worry on that side of things.

I think I'll wait for one of the bigger named ROMs to do the official release, personally. 4.2.2 still works fine.

unless they adopt the kernel fix they may take some time. A quick look shows he's more active on the AT&T versions hence not seeing him or jeboo on international threads.

I've used most if not all of the recognised dev's and this rom is very good but I'm sure things will get going once official version relesed in another couple of weeks.

Hey guys,

I've been having a play with my S4 recently and flashed it to the "Official Google edition 4.4.2 (by Jamal2367)" It's working awesome, and super fast, but I haven't yet been able to get it to connect to my mobile data.

I'm on 2degrees, and have re-entered the APNs as per the 2degrees website. Wifi works fine, and I've reflashed the TNZ/VNZ/NZC modem so it's now showing Baseband version of I9505XXUEMK9.

It is configured to allow data roaming (which it does in my area 90% of the time), but still no success.

Is there something I'm missing?

Yup, all confirmed as per http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/android-settings

Only difference is mine now has the options under "Preferred network type" of LTE (recommended), 3G or 2G. Have tried them all with no luck

bit of a discussion on Jamals thread about same issue with slight variations here but sounds like you have something differant?

try flashing a newer modem I'm on MKE and have been for a while with no issues hence not changing, I'm on Telecom
