@maoriboy thank you.

So that was rather naughty of the VF person then wasn't it.

They also had the P20 Pro attached to the stand with the P20 price on it.

Maybe some staff training is in order.

Meanwhile my hunt for a new phone continues....

kiwifidget:

I had a look at the P20 Pro in a Vodafone shop today.

The salesman said it has wireless charging, but I couldn't see any mention of this in the specs.

And could someone confirm it has no SD card slot?

Thank you.

You would want to get it on a good discount, the P30 Pro is not far off from release

Dragging this thread out of the grave:

I've lost my USB-C 3.5mm from Huawei, I'm using the apple cord but it's quieter and the headphone mic doesn't work so no handsfree. Anyone got a recommendation for a replacement? Nobody is selling the Huawei one :/

I use these. Sound quality is fine, mic and multi function button works with all the 3.5mm headsets I have tried so far.

They last me a few months but I use everyday, and hey they're cheap as chips, order a few at a time. Usually delivered within a few weeks...

The OnePlus USB-C to 3.5mm has been my go-to recommendation for folks who need spares. It's not as flimsy as the Apple-style ones Huawei and Xiaomi provide in-box, and nearly as robust as the excellent one Motorola makes (but doesn't sell separately).

Amid all the Huawei kerfuffle, I've just received an update notification to my P20 Pro. 9.0.0264 (C706E3R1P9) at 273MB which seems to be a security update by the looks of things.

Hehe. So much for NZ generic handsets and sw releases.

I have a P20 Pro I bought at launch from 2degrees. Recently my friend smashed their phone we put his skinny Sim in my P20 Pro so he could make a call. Since then whenever I start my phone I am greeted with a bright orange Skinny screen instead of the Huawei start up screen. How do I get rid of this? Using his skinny Sim also installed 2 skinny apps on my phone which I have uninstalled.

My 2degrees Sim is back in and I got a notification that my 2d Sim was set up and ready to use but the skinny screen is still there.

Factory reset.

Customisation is done based on Sim during setup if a true non branded handset.

And in other news, p20/pro slated for 9.1 by end of july.

Lite is rolling out now (diff model) in US, India delayed but we should be in good form for it here in a couple of weeks

Bang on midnight, prompted with 9.1 update (p20 non pro eml-l09 on vf)

Word to the wise.

You pro/oled users get to keep dark layouts. LED not so much. Themes all die due to different file system permissions for now

Just received the update for 9.1 today via HiCare. Currently installing now. Purchased and currently in use on Spark. Looking forward to seeing the changes.

Nothing super noticeable. Appart from all my nice black themes don't work now :(

Can't see the 20% speed boost, but the battery did seem to get a counter reset and take a while to go from 100% following day.

Seems to have played with notifications however, now individual rather than grouping say my GZ mail notifications despite the option to group app notifications being enabled.

So looks like some legacy settings may need resets

Unsure if anyone still rolls a P20. But after many delays and re-starts due covid etc, my non-pro with VF sim was pushed 10 last night

Huzzah!

10.0.0.161(C706E6R1P3)

So, rest of you can't be far off.

Now, has anyones developed white bright spots, similar to water-ingress or swelling of something on the PCB behind? Probably too late nearing my year warranty to do much with it, but seems to be a more common thing with other models

I'll have to fire mine back up!

Since moved to a S20 which has been plagued with issues (overheating, freezing, random restarts) which Samsung have no interest in.

Have been tempted many times to chuck the S20 on Trademe and move back to what I now realise was a rock solid P20 device but can't bear to take the depreciation hit.

S20 even locked up typing this post grrrr...
