Has 4.3 still not been released in NZ?

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

bradstewart: The Telecom rom is the same as the VF rom. There are specific carrier settings for each of the networks contained in it though. The LTE option is disabled with a Telecom SIM which is the reason an update is required.

I posted CWM flashable zips of 2.24.980.2 and its recovery earlier in the thread and marked it as an answer but somebody has cleared it. You'll have to do some searching about 20 pages back.

If you can find them and then flash rom then recovery you'll get further ota updates.

Thanks Brad - I forgot I had those! They are only CWM-flashable zips are they? I can't take the recovery.img and flash it using fastboot?

Certainly the Telecom One is still officially on 4.2.2 and Sense 5.

And just a question Brad, you said the phone has the LTE setting disabled with a Telecom 4G sim installed, does that mean if I put a Vodafone sim in it will magically appear?

Update: Seems not. I cannot flash the recovery alone using CWM either...It seems to go fine (CWM says it worked, and likewise if I try using fastboot) but when I boot into recovery I get the following image appearing on screen:

Anyone got any ideas?

I may be wrong but I'm sure that's all you get to see with the stock recovery. I remember trying to boot into it and that is what I saw. It did the OTA just fine like that.

Yeah it may require a reboot though. I tried a VF 4G SIM not long after I got mine from Telecom for the review. Freitasm and others also confirmed that.

foxcomrs: Hi Guys just got my Telecom 4G SIM, but it doesn't automatically connect to 4G is there some thing need to install first? Mine is 801s..

Is it a Telecom sourced One?

If it is a Telecom One, it needs a firmware update. Which means waiting until HTC push it out. That's assuming Telecom have actually approved it for release. It should have been done a month ago. Epic fail by Telecom.

As far as installing something, only a non Telecom rom will achieve what you're after.

Yes, i brought mine from Noel leeming about three month back..

So, in the quest to restore my phone back to "stock" (at least as far as the Recovery goes) I found this download:

Uses Aroma installer from recovery to flash whatever part(s) of stock that you need...and its for the NZ carriers' version of the 4.2.2 ROM...

http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-980-2-zip/

Will report back on what happens when I try to flash recovery with it...

Ha! I'm well tempted to do that. Except I too am on "another network" - one which does have LTE though....still I have no issues getting 4G on my phone other than that it doesn't currently reach either my workplace OR my house!!!

I'm in Dunedin too so sadly no 4G here either.

Currently using my 4.4 ROM that I built from source. Will do the GPe conversion when it releases.

This is the first time I'm happy to use an AOSP ROM over Sense. Till now IMO the stock Android look has been quite awful and lacking in a lot of basic features and Sense 5.x looked way better. But the new Google Experience launcher with the status bar transparency looks great so combined with the other improves KitKat brings, it's a winner.

The other thing that amazes me with 4.4 is the battery life. So far 12 hours on battery with 3 hours 10min screen time and still at 52% and this is with a ROM using the 4.3 binaries. The official GPe release should get even better.

Was just about to post! :)

Well, its exactly the same - recovery still just does nothing apart from show that dodgy "green arrows" icon. I'm 100% sure that its not supposed to do that. But BradStewart said he received an OTA update with recovery in that state, so I guess it's "ok". I'd definitely prefer a proper, functioning, stock recovery though!

That is the HTC stock recovery, doesn't look like the standard Android one.

Apparently there is a button combo to use to access the factory reset option etc.
