fk: Hi all
First attempt at post

Phone was standard Telecom sg2
Just flashed Siyah V 2.4.2 and checkrom RevoHD V4.

Very happy with results

this is crazy, with siyah 2.4.2 + cyanogenmod, no other tweak, with continuous push mail, market updates, short calls, texts and 3 hours of wifi  use, i still have 50% of battery left at 16 hours!!! my phone/battery is about 6 months old.

unbelievable. Surprised

jeffnz: All still only opinion as I doubt many would have tried all roms available currently nor measured battery life v speed as there is no doubt a trade off...

Getting there jeff. These are the vanilla results of roms I tested, installed and benchmarked no additions or subtractions. I chose a popular mix of the latest english 2.3.5/6/7 stock, slim, aosp.

Top 5 Roms
Simple+&+Clean+v2.4
Omega_v8.0_XT_XWKK2
FluxMOD_v1.1.0
CynogenMod-7.1.0
DlevROM2_3.1_KI4

The next stage of testing I want to run 5 kernels and benchmark 1 a day at install and finish.
Siyah 2.4, Speedmod 18-test13, Androidmeda-TJK 1.0, void-echo, SuperCore 2.0

Any suggestions welcome

1315 (stock cpu speeds etc), siyah kernel 2.4.2 with MIUI http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307266.

MIUI is really coming along, and very useable on the SGS II. Using the Siyah kernel, battery is good to very good also. The camera app is not as full featured as the Samsung roms, but it does everything you want really, and a few things the samsung one wont.

MIUI does really look great, and the themeing is fantastic.

Hi guys... is there a way to tell which app a notification came from? I got a spam message today as a notification... something about a US green card... and the icon for the notification was a green plus sign. When I clicked on the notification it loaded some spam website.

Any idea where it came from, or how I can find out? I ran AVG afterwards but it didn't find any problems.

I had the same issue recently. It started after I updated a MP3 Music Download app. Uninstalled the app and the "Air Push" ads stopped.

Ahh thanks for that, I have the same app. That's a bit cheeky of them. And there really should be a way in Android to see what app it came from, no?

asmcar: Quick question, are there any NZ retailers of MHL adapters? I spent a bit of time looking online tonight and I can't seem to find them anywhere locally (except trademe which i'd rather avoid).

Otherwise I might end up ordering a Biz Link MHL adapter from Mobile Fun or Clove in the UK, but I was hoping to get one sooner.

I bought mine from DealExtreme - shipping took about ten days or so.  A little bit cheaper (and free shipping):

Thanks for that, I ended up buying on eBay, at least then you get paypal buyer protection, cost $8.89 with free shipping from Hong Kong, seemed very cheap so hopefully it works fine once it turns up!

2.5.1 is 5th of my top 5 kernels I tested. Managed to take the tweaks from the top 3 roms and combine them into a stable Fluxmod which I used to test vanilla installs of kernels. So far number 1 is speedmod 18 test 12 followed by void echo, siyah 3.1 and siyah 2.1.1.

Next im going to try lulzactive, conservative and ondemand on speedmod test 12, void echo (lionheart and lulzactive), siyah 3.1

nakedmolerat: Siyah GT 2.5.1 is out!

Having issues with this kernal, my back button wont work, in recovery I have to use power button to select rather than the home button. Also connecting a charger seems to turn the phone off and the battery icon flicks on and off.

Reverted back to 2.3 while I research what is going on.

40% battery usage over 24 hours with wifi on at all time. why can't Samsung do the same thing? this means my battery could last close to 3 days...

Thirdly, Why the hell does my youtube app play wrong videos? Like, I'll click on a video and it'll just play some chinese news clip. Any ideas?

It appears to be a sort-of-known issue. See this thread for details: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=92924

We're having the same issue on all three Android devices in our house. I've just added my two cents to the Youtube thread/ticket you raised Kevin.

No issues here. On FluxMod 1.1.

I've had the issue on every single device I've used. It's been a known bug for over a year with no acknowledgement or fix on the way.

It's a bug yes.  When playing a Youtube video, press HQ. It should play the correct video after that.  Press it again if you don't want HQ of course (or vise versa).
