lokhor: It's easy you won't get it wrong
ArtooDetoo:lokhor: SuperOneClick can root 2.2 stock. I think you have to flash an update.zip to get 2e recovery. do you not have 3 button restore anymore?
I have the std 3e Sammy version with their limited menu of options. I really feel the 2e 3B recovery is a must if there turns out to be a good reason to flash into a modded ROM, and I don't have root right now as the old standbys don't work with this stock ROM. I'll try SOC and see if it gives me back root. Is that a market app or a side load from XDA Devs?
Cheers,

Can't you use Chainfire's root (via Odin) to get 2e Back?
ArtooDetoo:NZtechfreak: I will be on the new firmware pretty soon, download is nearly done, good times! First one since JPK that seemed worth the effort!
So I finally have to get my feet wet with Odin? Sounds slightly terrifying, but I guess the first step is to find it. Then read about it. Then get it wrong a few times...
Wish me luck. *gulp*

This is Mr Noobissimo remember?
I don't know what Chainfire's root is. I wish I did, but...

lokhor: I'm not flashing this firmware yet btw.

NZtechfreak: OK, Titanium Backup restoring my apps (how on earth did I get so many? 93 not including SuperUser and Titanium???). Benchmarks etc to follow...

You'll be fine. I can use it and I'm hopeless with that sort of thing without seeing someone else use it first. How did it go?

Something's happening since there's a shiny green bar crawling across the...
Nope. All stopped.
Now there's a scary blue box with "RESET" written across it in menacing black type. Oops...
Phone seems to be expecting a re-boot. Trepidation is the order of the day. Best I push a button or...
WAIT!
The blue box has turned green will the word "PASS!" on large black type? What on earth can this mean? And what should I do now. Must investigate.

lokhor: Lol I seriously hope you don't have issues ArtooDetoo. My first time using Odin was slightly scary but I followed a good guide so it was all good. As long as you can still access Download Mode you basically can't destroy it anyhow.
