Well, last night I swapped my Micro SD card with my mate's. I gave him mine 16GB card and I took his 32GB one, both Sandisk. I took around 20 photos with my mates micro sd card in my phone and all came out fine. He took pics with mine and those also came out fine. I then took mine back and started taking photos and again had several photos corrupted, as well as some not coming through at all. But since it was my work function and the boss brought out Tequila, I do not remember the rest. hahaha...

So I think, and believe me it hurts right now, that the problem is not with the phone, but with the 16GB micro sd card I have.

But you said your friend used your micro SD card and the photos taken were fine. But you put it back in your phone and you get corruptions.

I have no idea anymore tbh. But with his 32GB card photos I've taken with my phone were fine. I'm going to Harvey Norman tomorrow anyway, so hopefully we can come to some sort of resolution. :>

For the small number of us on the Samsung Captivate, I have flashed Assonance 4.3 Froyo 2.2

Default overclocked CPU runs at 1300 mhz, with no stability issues at all. Preconfigured all-ext4 lagfix. Headset functionality issue resolved finally! Telephony via wired and bluetooth works fine now. Developer MikeyMike is currently looking to finalise his first 2.2.1 ROM so looking forward to checking that out, but 4.3 is solid quick and stable. Will resist the urge to flash... for at least a few days!

I have tried the following ROMS for the Captivate

Cognition
Axura
Killer 23rd's Doc Based ROMS

I find Assonance the best "out of the box" ROM at the moment and won't be going anywhere else for a while.

Wondering if anyone here has any experience with JPU and CF Root. I flashed the CF Root Kernel and keep on getting FCs. I understand this is sometimes normal however i've tried re-flashing it and rebooting several times with no luck.

Anyway, is it possible for me to reflash the stock JPU PDA file and wipe the CF root kernel? At the moment i cant really use much of the phone with all the FCs.

I personally have no experience with ChainFire so can't help with that pre sé.

I can tell you that the SuperOneClick solution works in an albeit clunky way.

I think the CF root gives you the advantage of also enabling the 2e 3x button restore, with its ability to deal with unsigned .zip files for updating. So it is possibly the easiest solution in the long run.

But I'm lazy enough to use an app if there's one available, hence my use of SOC and RyanZA's lagfix and other one click solutions.

So yes, it's possible to flash over a dodgy JPU install with a better one. Just do a factory re-set first as a precaution. That's what I did.

Of course, I'm now re-installing most of my good apps, but I can live with that.

CFRoot is fine with JPU for me. Make sure you factory reset and clear cache from recovery, and don't restore data for any system programs afterwards.

Yes it is fine to just flash stock JPU over CFRoot if you want to.

would you flash all files or just the PDA file? i think i found the problem - i didnt have CWM installed. Fingers crossed that this was the cause.

Lesson from today: While reinstalling apps etc is a pain, clean installs cause MUCH less stress!

Im now running the Darky ROM, kept the CF root with 2E recovery and its super nice. I might have a look at Doc's ROM sometime soon, but for now darkys will do.

Too true! I've just finished upgrading from his 4.1 rom and I chose the 'Easy' method and ended up with a phone that wouldn't boot. Followed the 'Clean' method and am now up and running.
