No update over night - still 'in transit' at Poyle.  I wonder if Poyle currently has a ratio of 100 phones to every resident that lives there? Smile

NZtechfreak: Oh, and for anyone looking for confirmation, my 32GB microSD card is working perfect in the Desire.

yikes - how much did that set you back?  I'm looking at the 16gb microSDHC.

Anyone know if there will be a difference in speed on the Desire between these two cards?

I used an A-Data Class 6 card in my HD2, it was fine (first non-Sandisk card I've tried).

You won't really notice a difference in the phone to be honest, although when 720P video capture comes out in the FW update then it may be a different story.

32GB card is $199US, available exclusively via Sandisk US online store (I purchased via Shipito).

RevoWution: I gave the settings! Simply put www.vodafone.net.nz into the APN settings, call it "Internet" (or whatever I guess), leave the rest blank and it'll work fine.

Brill. thanks NZtechfreak!  Think I'll go for the fastest available 16gb card - the price of the 32gb is a little out of my range funnily enough :P

The specs for Desire state "Expansion Slot - MicroSDHC (SD 2.0)"
Is the "SD 2.0" stating the High Capacity version of microSD or Class 2 speeds?  (sorry, complete noob with this media!)

Also via clove.co.uk "HTC Desire Graphite - Please Note -  Now in Stock" for those people who are worried  ;)

NZtechfreak: Cheers for that! Have managed to get it up and running :) May I also ask if you are running on both GSM and WCDMA bands or only one of them?

I only get the GPRS logo in the notification bar if I'm running on GSM only, and I've only seen HSDPA when running GSM/WCDMA. I've yet to see 3G pop up. Unless HSDPA is better but I'm too noob to realise? :$

For the APN, I use:

Name: Vodafone NZ  (Can be anything)
APN: www.vodafone.net.nz

(Everything else leave alone, Except:)

APN Type: default,supl

The word default is important as something won't work reliably / properly without. I've found the "supl" also helps ensure MMS attachments are handled properly.

Not sure what, I'm guessing its the HC spec, its certainly not referring to Class 2 transfer speeds.

Hey, thanks for that, Linuxluver!! :) Much appreciated!!

Also, I'm assuming an HSDPA connection is better than 3G? So seeing the little "H" in my notification bar is a good thing? :)

Its a good thing alright :)

BTW, if any of you haven't found it at XDA yet there is a working Voice Search and Voice-to-text keyboard over there. Works pretty good, especially if you spoof an American accent, occasionally hilarious results of course!

Loving Tunewiki and LastFM, also SMS Backup (auto to your Gmail account in folder called SMS) is quite cool. Google Goggles is good for a laugh, and Google Maps street view with the compass is just awesome!

I see there is also a mod for Google Navigation outside the US at XDA now too, haven't tried it yet...

Your comments are not appreciated Murray.

My Desire is sitting in a box on my desk at work since I left early to go to Martinborough for the weekend to help get rid of the wine glut.

Drink wine vs go home early, this is worse than no updates during shipping!!

Sitting on your desk at work is better than sitting stuck in a warehouse half way around the world in the UKSmile

Nah you're ok, I actually have enjoyed watching everyone's passion to get their hands on their new toy - no one in my corner of the real world share's my enthusiasm for smartphones so it's nice to see I'm not the only one.  But don't even think about leaving a perfectly good drinking weekend, you'll be home soon enough and have plenty of time to play.  Drink and be merry with some good company - you can't find that as easily as a new toy.

Yeah, that's right - having said that, most apps are quite small. If you check out sizes of a lot of the builtin apps we are talking sub-MB sizes. Dare we hope app install on SD cards will be in future firmware updates?
