Ordered a 8GB N4 from Mobicity, at the time I ordered it said they had stock but now it says pre-order, still waiting on updates :(

If you order from them, "TYV10" is a $10 off coupon I found on Google.

I don't know about manufacturing defects but to me the phone looks and feels like a premium device. I've always been a fan of the iphone 4/4s build and the N4 looks and feels so similar quality (if not better) with a glorious screen to boot.

Just been following various comments on reddit and xda, which indicate a few defective units - mostly seems to be battery/charging related.

I too have just ordered a N4 16gb from Mobicity. I was all set to buy through Google Play but eventually decided to go with Mobi solely for the fact that it has a 12 month warranty.

It is going to cost about $240 more but I had a bad experience buying something from China (not their fault) but postage back to get warranty issues sorted is prohibitive.

I have just called Mobi and asked when they expect to stock the N4 and they think it will be two weeks. And from then they ship out, so .......Dec 17,18,19 Bring it on!

You know that MobiCity doesn't keep any stock in NZ and that it all comes from Hong Kong right? If you managed to get it through the US playstore then you're looking at around $425NZD + $20NZD max to ship here through YouShop (and with YouShop you can work it so you won't have to pay GST/Customs tax) so that's a grand total of around $450NZD. The MobiCity deal is a total of $772NZD....getting mine through Negri Electronics in the US. Costing me $630NZD. (would be even cheaper if I had used my YouShop address) Not too worried about the warranty - they seem to be pretty good with that sort of thing though.

Are you sure you won't have to pay taxes on top of that?

Oh yeah well aware of that. Got phone from them earlier this year. And very aware and annoyed at the cost is more through them. Like I said the main reason is the warranty. I have seen too many posts in the last week that talk of faults and don't want to left with a lemon. I'm too old to go through any of those dramas

Google offers a 12 month warranty on the nexus 4. Just put your shipping address as the freight forwarder when sending it back. Sure it may be a bit expensive, but better than spending $200+ by buying it somewhere else.

Also I spoke to the guys from PBTech, and they hope to import some stock too.

Hello I would like to share my experience and suggestions in purchasing Nexus 4.

Firstly I looked around really hard considering every source around the internet to see the cheapest option of buying the Nexus 4.

The 2 cheapest options we have is Negri Electronics & Google Play.

First of all there have been people noticing hardware problems with the Nexus 4 I found absolutely no surprise in hearing this because I had to return my nexus 7 twice because of a mixture of hardware & software faults. First time hardcore screen flicker audio jack problem. Returned it got a replacement and this time it was wifi drop, same audio jack problem and one other I forgot.

By me pointing this out it is absolutely essential to have warranty go with the nexus 4 there should be no questioning about it. I have had previous experiences with the Nexus 7 as stated above and I am telling this to you all to take into consideration so no warranty = no nexus 4 DONE. UNLESS you would like to take a $600 risk by buying it with no warranty by all means go ahead but when problems persist that's when your going to beat yourself up so once again I strongly emphasize the fact that you should ALWAYS GET WARRANTY with products you buy internationally and especially when a lot of people notice problems with the device.

Next of all I know this is an LG made product compared with the Nexus 7 which is ASUS but they all go under one name and that's Nexus so don't say 'oh lg build quality crap' 'oh asus build quality crap'. Remember an old friend of mine said 'You get what you pay for'.

Now by reading this your probably like 'just get on with the how you bought it' and I reply ok.

Firstly the only 2 options as I said above is Negri Electronics & Google play.

If you a buy 16gig from google play $350USD is $424NZD. Customfees/gst/tax/declaration bla bla bla all that crap will add up at MOST to $550. Now you have to ship it to somewhere, where may you ask? Youshop that's the BEST most RELIABLE option for us New Zealanders as it's very easy to set up and use and it's a New Zealand franchise.

They say at most you would have to pay $22 but let's hope it weighs at 500G or you will have to pay $17.50. That will all add to $580 ROUNDED I know my math.

Let's just round that to $590 just for the sake of staying safe so you have to pay $590 altogether.

This option sucks because if Nexus 4 turns out to be a defect your going to have to forward this to somewhere to america they send to google, google repairs they send back to that place you sent to and that place you sent to sends backs here and EVERYTHING IS )UYR@)(Y)R(Y)@Y)) SO DON'T GO WITH GOOGLE PLAY!.

Negri Electronics is the BEST option.

$440USD = 545.072NZD for the sake of rounding $550 you would have to pay and that's just for the item. For shipping you would have to pay $70USD and it would total up to $690USD forgot the other side of the equation but I definitely know the total.

This option is debatable to the next best option I will propose but certainly better than the google play option as they provide manufacture warranty. They also have a policy that if it's a defect you can send back and I think it's refund or straight replacement? not to sure but you should check out. If the device itself stuffs up your going to have to read about that on how they manage it and how they send to manufacturer and bla bla bla so this IS a reasonable option but not the best.

The BEST one and the one I chose was buying it for $545 and adding their one year warranty via youshop.

Now what'sawesome about this method is that I buy the unit yes totals up to $545NZD but what's cool is that if you register to youshop and use their address they send straight to there $0.00 Shipping FREE!! so NO $90shipping YES instead you waste the extra on WARRANTY. Now this warranty is AWESOME and a MUST because if you lose this break it do anything that's your fault they will IMMEDIATELY replace for you just ship back and your good to go. But I think you have to take care of shipping fees but that's what's cool about youshop.

They will also mark it under $200 so no custom fees declaration (yay) so when they receive it HOPEFULLY you will pay an extra $17.50 for shipping and altogether that's $611NZD + unit + free shipping + 1 year awesome warranty and now adding the international shipping covered by youshop = $630 (for the sake of rounding) now that's what you call A DEAL.

This is probably the only & best deal you will find. The CHEAPEST resellers for mobile phones is Fairbuy but I lost hope in buying from new zealand as they are selling $770NZD for 8GIGBAYTE it's like wtf. SO TO ALL YOU PEEPS OUT THERE REGISTER ON YOUSHOP BUY VIA NEGRI WITH WARRANTY SHIP TO YOUSHOP PAY $17.50 AND YOUR GOOD TO GO!

OH YES EVEN BETTER NEWS!
I called up LG to see if they would have a look at my nexus 4 if it came out faulty and they said yes so you send to LG for repairs as well.

I just need a few questions answered.
Will they defin mark under $200? at least so that's what it says but it's just for the sake of pressure of my backside because I don't want to end up paying customs.
Is there international warranty for the nexus 4? will this work on LG NZ?

I bought 2x 8GB Nexus4 from the play store. This is the break down of the costs.

Phones + US Shipping USD $611.99 @0.8174 = NZD$748.70
Shipping to NZ USD $67.70 @0.785192 = NZD$86.22 (lesson learned, never let Paypal do the currency conversion, their rate was way worse than mastercard)
GST, DUTY and Fedex FEES NZD$146.17
TOTAL NZD$981.09
Cost Each = NZD$490.55

I used Shipito for shipping because they give you multiple options of carrier and duration. I wanted fast shipping so I used the fastest on offer (FedEx). I've used shipito many times and found them to be very fast, very reliable and they let you fill out the customs declaration.

If I wasn't in a hurry and had only one phone coming I would've used youshop. Last time I used youshop was to buy a Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon. Youshop completed the customs declaration themselves so I don't think people will have the option to buy Nexus phones via youshop and list them as costing $200 to avoid customs as stated in a previous post.

I think if you bought a single 8GB Nexus4 from the play store and used youshop with their current discount codes then you might sneak it under the $400 threshold depending on the exchange rate at the time.

As for warranty, I don't see why I can't send it directly back to google and have them repair/replace via youshop.

Here is what your forgetting it's the actual manufacturer or the source of where you are buying from who decides the value of what the phone will be going at. If they list $200USD then youshop will have to abide as they have no right to adjust the value on it's net worth so really it's up to the company to decide. With that being said I think no customs/fees will haveto be paid agreed bigmal?
