Anyone else having these?

People app shows "link suggestions" and regardless of how many times I tap "Link All" it will suggest some of these again later on (if not all). This was also happening on my HTC One M7 before:

Also, trying to add a contact to my Do Not Disturb exceptions list and this specific contact disappears from the list. I have five contacts there, this one always drops off (and it's wife BTW).

I have all my contacts stored in Gmail and simply sync them to my M8.

When I tap on the phonebook app, it displays the photos of my contacts normally but when I go into each contact individually, photos are not displayed. So when I send them a text or receive a text, their photo is not displayed, but strangely under call records, the same contact's photo is displayed. I checked my contacts in Gmail, the photo is there.

This does not happen to all my contacts, only to some. Is this happening to anyone else as well?

Could these be an HTC software bug? If that is the case, you'd expect this to be ironed out when they brought out the M8 when it was happening on your M7 before.

I have most of my contacts on Exchange, then LinkedIn, Facebook. Many don't show photos at all while on my Wnidows Phone they were all populated.

From memory, on my M7, the link all option was 'less than optimal '. I had to go through and manually link or delete each grouping and then check it against my Gmail contacts list as it seemed to synch with that and undo all my good work.

The M8 is currently $867 at Dick Smith, so I guess you could take that price to Warehouse Stationary and get it for less than $800! I'm extremely tempted, just deciding how I could convince the other half that it was money well spent. Also, i'm not sure I like the aesthetics as much as my current M7, but I could be alone in that

I have since resolved this issue.

I thought I'd share what I found:

It's to do with me having multiple Google email accounts (2 in fact). Even though I selected 1 of those account for contact display, the M8 for some reason (bug maybe) would try to display contact info from the other email account for example when I am using the stock text app.

Once I have deleted all my contacts in the other email account, this issue went away.

Not necessarily multiple Google accounts. I have this problem on my M7 (and on the M8 I was using) and basically anything with multiple accounts is a screw up on Android. I have two Exchange accounts, one Google account, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and as soon everything syncs... Things get weird.

The HTC People app also gives "suggestions" to link contacts but even if you link all of them, the same suggestions appear again the next day - and so on.

Seriously considering a Lumia device from the new crop coming soon, because this never happened on that platform.

This issue never happened on Samsung Androids, I had Galaxy S through to S4 maybe an issue specific to HTC?

Would anyone be interested in the Orange Dot View Case? I like it but I might go back to using a non flip case and I noticed that the orange Dot View case isn't available here so I thought I'd see if someone on here might like it?

How do people find the camera? I couldn't stand the low quality detail on the M7

In answer to my own question - rang HTC support. If the icon appears right away after a hard reset (it does) the phone nees to be replaced.

gb

Hi all - anyone experienced the headphone icon turning on and remaining on? I've not used the headphone socket at all before it came on so appears to be a fault (as a Google seems to confirm). none of the suggested remedies work (restart, plug in and unplug a headset - haven't tried compressed air). Am backing up and will try a factory reset shortly.

Cheers, gb

Got a friend looking at the Telecom M8 - does anyone know what bands this model supports? He'll be using it on Vodafone initially...

HTC One M8 sold in NZ via the 3 carriers have the same spec, all support 4G LTE 700/900/1800/2100/2600.

As an example, I have a 2Degrees M8 running on Vodafone 4G.

I see DSE has the M8 for sale this weekend for $800. Seems a pretty sharp price and may even be worth seeing what warehouse stationery will do for those keen on this handset.
