did anyone else have problems with there external sd card getting corrupted??????? .done 3 times now,its A 8GB Apacer (the card worked fine on the n900) ph firmware 2.2 froyo.zsjp8,kernal 2.6.32.9 root@se-s506#3

Yes, on my third card now. First two screwed my photos.

I will play around with my phone this weekend to figure out the connection for the car stereo through a USB, as some of you brought it up. It worked fine for me before it came back from being repaired, so I don't see why it shouldn't now. Will report what settings I'm using etc. :>

Not sure what's up but with JPX and JPY I often go to bed with almost a full battery and wake to find the battery almost drained completely. I wasn't having this on JPM, so must be a new bug.

Yep, my battery drain is pretty bad now too. I've got autokiller set to strict. Last night my battery drain was 36% so there was an improvement from prior to setting autokiller.

Doc's thread has a lot of people discussing battery drain. It's not something we're alone in.

The battery drain is the wifi sleep settings. Each flash seems to put the wifi sleep settings back to never. I'm on JPY now and the battery seems pretty good. Only 2-3% over night.

If 21 is old then... well kill me now, I'm probably the oldest flasher here :-)

Hi Fellas

I have a vodafone prepay sim and ive been to Coromandel for a small vacation and I had no reception what so ever over there. I am not sure if my phone has the problem or is it normal on Samsung Galaxy S right now. I read somewhere in the forum that a user had a similar problem on 2degrees, Well I had the same issue it seams except I am vodafone.

Am I missing something? is there a way I can go to Coramandel and have reception? According to my friends smart phone have terrible reception compared to older models. I am running the 2.2 Firmware. If anybody knows a solution to this would be great cause I am keen to go back but dunno know the area all too well. Any feedback really guys would be great.

Excellent, I didn't see those advanced settings. I've just changed it now to sleep once screen is off, so will see how we go tonight.

Hi. I think I'm the person you're talking about. I didn't have the issue with the reception, but rather with internet connection. There was none. I haven't had time to investigate the issue, because apparently 2Degrees should leach to Voda cell towers when outside big cities. I could see the tower from where we were staying and the cell reception was in fact excellent. :>

And yes, merry Christmas to everyone. Thanks for all the help and advice peeps! Can't wait to see my little boys face when he opens his pressies when he gets here! hahahahaha... Take care. :>

There is an awful lot of advice on the internet on this issue (some in these forums and also many others internationally, like XDA) – it is not uncommon. I would suggest that you have a good look around, but have noted what worked in my specific case (see below). Absolutely no guarantees that is will work for you though – the joys of Android (and Samsung in this case!!). However, well worth persevering with it in my opinion – great phone (mine is an XT one now running 2.2 via the registry patcher).

So, what worked for me:
1. Primary solution is to remove all file names with extensions that have more than 16 characters (yes- there are a number of possibilities, including in the DCIM folder from the inbuilt camera software, as well as some third party software). Rather than try and track them all down manually, I used a little program called “FileSearcherforKiesFix” (Google is your friend) to find the offending files and remove them. You will need to connect your phone to computer in USB mode and then use file searcher to identify the offending files (if any).
2. Another thing I had to do (again covered on the internet) was “unmount” the external SD card. This seems to create problems in some cases syncing with Kies. One final trick related to this that I found on the internet, but was not so widely discussed, was to turn off the “automount” option in WinAmp if you have that installed (which I did) and finally fixed my problem. People were finding they manually unmounted the SD card but it still wasn’t working – then some smart person figured out that WinAmp was undoing all the good work by remounting it constantly!!

There are other measures that people have taken (including formatting SD cards) – but it isn’t clear to me whether some of these approaches weren’t simply doing some of the above via a more drastic methods. So, I would try easiest options first!!
