I've bought around 15 items from Amazon over the years and have never had a problem...

lokhor: I think he means the website user experience is so poor, it's like it came from the 90s. It is incredibly difficult to find the place to contact someone if something goes wrong. I try to avoid Amazon like the plague.

The website works fine for me, and I contacted customer service with little effort two days ago. They replied in about four hours. They've replaced items for me in the past, and upgraded the replacement to express shipping. Overall their customer service is some of the best I've experienced.

My experience has been really good also. But we are dragging this thread off topic.

Me: Hi Amazon support I just stood on my Kindle!
Amazon Support: Sorry to hear that! Would you like a replacement at half price?
Me: Sure!

Best customer experience ever.

You must be new to the internet.

It's pretty difficult to miss even for a newbie.

Off Topic: DX.com is where it's at for little gadgets!

On Topic: I like the Moto G, I hope the NZ carriers pick it up, although it'll likely be a $500 phone here.

Now that Google has sold Motorola to Lenovo we may have orphans with maybe no software updates after 4.4..

That's a surprising move. Lenovo are taking over all sorts of things, established brands, and seem to be doing a good job of it. Unsure why everyone wants to transfer profits to China though.

Google Play Edition devices are guaranteed to get 2 years of updates so you would at least to be able to flash a ROM with the latest version of Android.  Lenovo did also say they weren't going to be changing Motorola too much so we'll see if that's true.

Even though Moto G is a budget phone, I didn't want to cheap out on the storage so I'm getting 16GB like you said.

Cheers

Very good call. Even if you use the Cloud for everything possible the 8GB simply won't have enough storage for anyone who is more than a light user (main problem being very restricted app install space).
