Just moved up to RR 3.0.3 from Wanamlite 11 (I think).

A couple of questions/issues that others here might know off the top of your heads:
1.  (Device ) Search, the one that searches everything on the phone.  I used it often to find apps, people etc by long pressing on the menu hardware button.  Doing that doesn't do anything for me on RR.

2.  Flashlight, mobile data on the notification bar (and other customisation).  Haven't stumbled across where I can change this.

3.  I've wanted to install a few APKs I've downloaded on the phone (compared to the normal ADB install).  I get to the stage where I'm saying to go ahead and install the app, but I can't press the Ok button - it does nothing.  The Cancel button beside it works properly, and abandons the installation that I was hoping to achieve.  I have sideloading allowed and have been able to install apps this way prior to ICS just fine.  Another setting on ICS upwards?

I get pretty good reception with DOLP4 in Wellington. (It's the modem from Telecoms ICS ROM).

I'm using i9100TJJLP7 with CM10. Found it to have slightly better signal than than the stock LP4.

I was on XXLP6 for some reason (probably from the last samsung rom I flashed when setting up dual boot) and have been running JJLP8 for a couple of days. My cellular reception has nearly doubled at home (based on inidicator, haven't tested strength), but as a heavy user I've not noticed any effect on the battery. I normally get about 3-4 hours screen time with 10-14 hours use (2000Mah Samsung battery).

I'm running a CM10 powered international i9100 on Skinny, normally with T model modems.

The previous the link to JJLP8 is not working but i am assuming it is the same as this one http://www.mediafire.com/?lgdpts6vud83h19

When i switch my GPS on\off it takes ages to find my location. Is this related to the modem? Is there anyway to make the GPS lock quicker?

Steve113: execuse my ignorance but what is a T model modem? I'm assuming they are a telecom provider specific?

If so the previous the link to JJLP8 is not working but i am assuming it is the same as this one http://www.mediafire.com/?lgdpts6vud83h19 which is specific to Pelephone

Sorry, I'm referring to the international i9100 vs the i9100T. That's where the T model bit came from.

My old link for S2 models has been down for the last week or so unfortunately.
A quick Google search bought up an XDA thread with a good number of modems, just remember that the Telecom ones are the DOxxx ones, but anything in there is compatible.

Cheers. That's where i got my previous link from. I am now on JJLP8 and i can see some improvements already :)

I am still curious about the the GPS locking though. Sometimes I arrive at the destination and the GPS is still trying to find my location. I wonder if there is a way to speed it up.

Ok. After some time of messing about with gps.conf managed to improve the results but i still think it takes a relatively long time to lock. has anyone else experienced this issue? If not would you mind sharing your gps.conf file located /etc/gps.conf

The kernel I'm using (Dorimanx) supports the ExTweaks app, which has a GPS tweak section that allows you to set your region... I selected Oceania and this is what my gps.conf file looks like...

[code]
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com
SUPL_PORT=7276
NTP_SERVER=oceania.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.oceania.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.oceania.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.oceania.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.oceania.pool.ntp.org
[\code]

I use my phone for geocaching and I get quick locks and good accuracy (ie.. +/- 5m)... Even in my house! Although the accuracy wanders a little bit if I'm inside ;-)

Have you tried installing GPStest to see what signal strengths you are getting from the satellites?

After experiencing several dropped calls with JJLP8, I went back to DOLP4 and all is well now. Plus, I don't see any reduction in signal reception. [Wellington, full signal strength]

I tried JJLP8 and even a JHLPA that I found via one of the xda links... They were OK, but I still find DOLP4 to give me the most reliable signal... Especially for data connections...

I'm in Auckland, on 2degrees...
