NZtechfreak: Very good call. Even if you use the Cloud for everything possible the 8GB simply won't have enough storage for anyone who is more than a light user (main problem being very restricted app install space).

Even for light, not as tech savvy, users, being able to snap photos and videos without worrying is probably worthwhile.

I think people just need to look at their current storage requirements, factor in a bit of an increase and they should be fine. I went from a 2GB SD card in my old Defy to the 8GB Moto G, and I just checked and of the 5.5GB total space (left after Android I guess), I have 3.7GB free. So I'm only using a third of the space available. Just depends on peoples requirements. For me the 8GB is the perfect phone, no need to spend extra on the 16GB.

Has anyone seen reasonably priced 16GB version in NZ? Not keen to sacrifice the CGA warranty when buying from Amazon.

Unfortunately, mobilicity is an overseas company made to look like a local one. No CGA warranty from them.

Fine to look at current storage requirements, sure, but obviously not a bad idea to factor in future increases. If you want to play even a single Gameloft game for example 3.7GB starts to look not so hot. But obviously each persons use varies...

The 16 Gig one seems MIA here. Motorola said it was supposed to be released here same time as the 8Gig model.

Good news for Moto G owners - looks like the phone is water resistant (nigh on waterproof even). YouTube reviewer Erika submersed it in water for a half hour, only to retrieve a fully functional phone at the end of that (wee bit of condensation under the lens that took a day to dry). Impressive.

Agreed - I'm considering one of these for the wife whose current Xperia Arc S seems to be permanently low on system memory (even after rooting (the phone) and uninstalling bloatware). I checked her current phone and there's less than 3GB of the 16GB SD Card used, and that's after 18 months of use. So, I figure the 8GB model is unlikely to be a problem

S3 is $549 through Telecom. The Moto G is smaller, not everyone wants a big phone.

it's faster, has the latest version of android and its cheaper

I wouldn't spend $370 on it. The 8GB model is $299 in JB HiFi, including a very nice flip case. So you're comparing 299 vs 502 (lowest delivered price of $472 plus $30 for a case), ie 67% extra for the S3

Plus i only paid 270 for my 16gb getting it off Amazon
