I was looking at the Air Dock looks very handy for the car but wasn't sure about the wireless insert or whether the Samsung wireless cover would be best.

On a wall charger or a decent car charger my note 3 will charge at 1800mA, the wireless always shows 450mA in the battery monitoring app, but seems even slower than charging the phone off a computer.

This is with a real samsung charging plate and a real samsung back panel. I have tried an aftermarket back panel off ebay which seems no better, and an insert that goes under the panel and it is worse than the samsung back at charge rate. I have not measured the current between the pickup and the terminals on the phone because that is too much effort. I was hoping to use wireless to reduce wear on the USB on the phone, but its just too slow to bother.

Interesting on the LTE-A, dunno, but I was about to ask a related question.

Given that is has been known for ages that 4G will expand into the 700 MHz area in the next 12- 24 months, why is it that all the NZ carriers sell the S5 model that does not support this band when there is a model that does. Specifically they sell the SM-G900F, but Oz carriers sell the SM-G900i. That model seems to have similar operating bands, but includes the 700 MHz range.

Not being one that upgrades toooooo often, and living in a semi rural area, it could be a factor in my buying a new phone in the near future. Or I suppose I could go to a true pentaband like the Sony Z2?

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.

I recently purchased a S5 that has CSC: G900FOLB1ANE2 (Open Asia) on it.  I seem to have difficulty connecting to 2degrees (calls and data)   It will connect every other time.  So I want to flash the 2degrees image on..  To do that I need a CIT (partition information) file from a working 2degrees (or vodafone or telecom probably)  Has anyone got one?  Or can someone make one?  If I try and flash as is I get an error in ODIN hidden.img.ext4 FAIL error

Been quiet in here so I'll ask if anyone is using a custom Rom if so what and what do you like about it.

I'm using Alliance Rom which had its roots in the the Darky Rom for S1 and S2 so I know they do good stuff.

Have to say I'm very impressed it works very well and has some many options to modify just about everything. You can change themes straight from alliance tab in settings which is kind of cool if you like different themes.

Its the first custom Rom I've tried on S5 but see no reason to change, besides there isn't much choice and I'm not a fan of Omega

Cheers.  I have already grabbed those images but they don't contain the PIT file.  The partition sizes are different from my Malaysian version to the NZ ones.. so you have to repartition to install... to repartition I need a PIT file.

Hey there,

Chased this one up for you, since it's a good question. :)

Good news - the SM-G900I Galaxy S5 variant with band 28/700MHz 4G support is now available from Vodafone stores, just in time for the first 700MHz service to go live in places like Papakura.

It's being phased in to replace the SM-G900F model, and will become available across the country as current stock of the F sells out. You can identify the SM-G900I by the model number on the box, the bootscreen, and in Settings/About Device/Model Number.

Picked up an S5 from Telecom St Lukes last week and it's an SM-G900I :-)

Just ordered the Samsung wireless flip cover + charging pad so will see how they go. Only intending to use wireless for overnight charging.

Couldn't find the new charging pad anywhere in NZ (Samsung online store were selling them last week but not anymore) so ended up buying out of the US.

The bootscreen on an F I saw today just said "Samsung Galaxy S5"

Hi there, I presume you rooted the S5 following this thread?  Did it trip the Knox counter?

I bought an S5 yesterday (I've been overseas, hence the delay) and keen to get apps like Titanium Backup (though I've installed all apps fresh) and Root Explorer. Not so quick this time to root the old fashioned way due to the Knox counter.

Cheers

I see the G900F ANG9 update is available for VF, any word of an ETA for Spark?

I installed the open european version of ANG9 and love the changes (much faster everything, more fingerprint improvements and averaging over 6 hours screen time per charge now), would just be nice to have the local one.
